13 November 2006 – 19 November 2006

The Week beginning November 13th, 2006

Week as a Whole:

My expectations of a major U.S. election mix-up were wrong, I’m happy to say.  More research on the “eclipse of Mercury” phenomenon is clearly required.  However, we did see a political sea-change begin.

This week Mercury slows to change of direction on Friday as he ends his retrograde period.  For most of this week and into next week he maintains a 4 sign contact with Uranus who will also change direction this week on Sunday.  When Mercury connects with Uranus our minds are open to Uranian lightning flashes and sudden insights.  As the prototypical outsider, Uranus will make it easier to step outside our habits of mind and look at our puzzles and problems in a new way.  Many of us can have “Eureka” moments over the next 10 days.  This is unusual for both Mercury and Uranus to change directions – and thus intensify – within two days of each other AND maintain an angular relationship.

Some people may find this intense combination unsettling; some of us may get to know what it’s like to have an attention deficit disorder.  Steady concentration at routine tasks may require extra effort and focus.  In fact, the next ten days is better spent in creative problem solving than in any routine activity.

Too much Mercury and Uranus can create an Aquarian-type excess: the know-it-all.  Aquarians do know, and they sound like they know, and they express affection by sharing what they know, but they are sometimes reluctant to admit that there might be something they don’t know.  They can be impatient in discussion as their minds leap ahead skipping over steps that other people of other signs may need.  They can leap to wrong conclusions in the same “sparky” way.  Sometimes they can see the shape of ideas and thought patterns in their heads, and during this period, we may all get a glimpse of those communication bridges and tunnels that form between us.

This pattern is not the only influence this week.  On Wednesday, Venus aligns with Jupiter and then moves quickly on to be the first of the Scorpio group to enter Sagittarius on Friday.  She is the first to make the change and will be followed by the Sun and Jupiter next week as December’s Sagittarius cluster begins to form up.  Neither Venus nor Jupiter is at their best when in Scorpio.  Jupiter’s expansion may combine with Venus and press us to overextend or want more than we need.

But the Sun makes a square angle with Saturn on Thursday and that should bring us a reality-check that will help.  This square, that comes twice a year, helps focus our creativity and set limits to what we think or wish we could control.  Sun – Saturn can build a healthy ego-structure and set of boundaries that liberate us from unrealistic self-images.  There’s a “muscle-building” pressure on us to overcome some resistance and to also acknowledge the power of tradition and past success.

We’ll need a dose of hard facts even more because on Friday Mars squares Neptune.  We start our projects with Mars and sometimes we can be paralyzed by the long path to completion.  This is especially true when Mars and Neptune are combined.  Neptune images the absolute perfect outcome before us and it may seem impossible in its perfection.  Saturn and Sun will help with this.  Sometimes with Mars and Neptune we make false starts tilting at windmills.  With Mars in Scorpio and Neptune in Aquarius there’s a possibility of revolutionary passion in excess.  Groups can become mobs, losing their minds if calm voices are shouted down.

Friday is highly charged with Venus changing signs, Mercury standing still, and Mars squaring to Neptune.  People will get excited about ideas and causes.  Expect to hear that the sky is falling here and there.  This condition will extend through the weekend and subside into the New Moon next Monday when choices and commitments will be discovered already in place.

Daily Forecasts:

Monday 13 November 2006

We’re running on mental high-test with Mercury connecting with Uranus.  Especially under the Virgo Moon that makes good use of Mercury.  Keep re-focusing on the possible and keep your scope of work grounded.

Tuesday 14 November 2006

Dig in and do hard tasks to make best use of the continued Virgo Moon.  Puzzles that seemed unsolvable may reveal themselves.

Wednesday 15 November 2006

An odd day when we have a change of feeling from morning to afternoon.  We seem focused and clear before noon and subject to over-expansion after noon.  But it feels great to be part of a focused team.  Avoid passing on gossip.  The Moon goes Void at 2:41pm/5:41pm and then enters Libra at 6:14pm/9:14pm.  Don’t commit to anything during this Void period, no matter how tempting.  It won’t amount to much.

Thursday 16 November 2006

We’ll need the cool distance of Sun squaring Saturn and an air Moon with the Mars – Neptune square coming into play.  Try to keep your balance and use the “exterior” POV from Mercury – Uranus.  Passion for a cause feels great and can be addictive.  Remember there are many causes and two ends to every stick.

Friday 17 November 2006

Look out for Henny-Penny, Chicken-Licken, Gooey-Loosey, and Turkey-Lurkey today.  They’ll be busy running to tell any listening king.  Mercury is standing still, Venus is shifting, and Mars squares Neptune.  It will be hard to feel in complete control.  Expect to suddenly outgrow some long-standing attitude.

Saturday 18 November 2006

The Moon enters Scorpio at 6:46am/9:46am and there’s a steady and intense background hum.  Although there are no planetary connections, there’s action rumbling beneath the surface moving upwards.  The Moon moving toward the New Moon brings consequences and karma to us.

Sunday 19 November 2006

Look for any secret expectations or commitments that have not been discussed today.  This is time to look inside and take an inventory of what really matters and what doesn’t.  We’re about to shed a skin.

Long Range Forecast:

November 23rd – Jupiter leaves Scorpio to spend a year in his home sign of Sagittarius.  Less spying and secret courts, more transparency and more light.  A new cycle of politics, foreign affairs, jurisprudence, and religious thinking begins.

December 8th to 10th and December 18th to 20th – Six planets are in Sagittarius.  Time for the big picture, time to look ahead, time to see clearly.  And maybe time to overlook some important details.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

April 14, 2009 – November 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
