The Week beginning October 16th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
The Sun begins the week midway between Saturn and Pluto. This is an opportunity for some of us to find new purpose and set new goals. The Libra Sun always seeks to find a balance or relationship in life and here the question is where the people in our lives can lead us. We can use Saturn in Leo to focus our creativity and to value our power to love and shine on those around us. In a social context, we can achieve clarity about who we are and who we no longer are. Saturn brings maturity and in Leo he can either make our ego structures rigid or, if we can let go of that which we’ve outgrown, he can trim and prune the dead weight of old attitudes.
Venus is catching up with the Sun moving toward the remarkable Libra/Scorpio cluster that includes the Sun, Venus, and Mars on Saturday’s New Moon. On Wednesday she replaces the Sun midway between Saturn and Pluto and continues the re-balancing and maturation process. During this period, from Monday through Thursday, last week’s Neptune fog fades and is replaced by a clarity that may be a bit too bright for comfort at times. But we’ll emerge from this period knowing who really matters and who really cares about us. This is not a time for self-delusion. Pluto will be the voice or, more correctly, the desire from within that we should pay heed to now. Commitments we make this week can last for many years.
As we move toward this New Moon, we pass through this period of focus and clarification to arrive at an deeper understanding of personal commitments to other people. This grouping at the end of Libra (look at the 7 o’clock position) is the point just before the movement from a light social connection to the deeper emotion vulnerability and intimacy of Scorpio. The Sun, Venus, and Mars enter Scorpio next week as a group. Briefly on the 24th, six planets will be in Scorpio: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. Welcome to insect life!!
Notice also, in the 5 o’clock position, Mercury and Jupiter aligned in Scorpio. With the combined energy that opens into the reciprocal flow between Jupiter and Pluto, we can see and understand how our commitments open doors and perhaps learn how much of our “philosophy” is driven by our desires. We can also learn, as we take the inner journey of the New Moon, how we outgrow ourselves, die, and are reborn each day. In the words of Parmenides, “Immortal mortals – mortal immortals, dying their life, living their death.”
The New Moon falls in the 29th degree of Libra which bears the meaning of knowledge passed on through generations, timeless knowledge. Wisdom. Here at the end of the primary air sign, we see how the world fits together and how the law of karma, action begets reaction, operates in our lives. Take the quiet moment this Saturday evening and find your inner balance and open to the many lines of light that connect all of us to each other.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 16 October 2006
This is a very busy day whose momentum continues past the Moon going Void at 2:01pm/5:01pm. The Leo feeling of being in the spotlight will linger and be replaced by the “smaller” Virgo Moon just before midnight.
Tuesday 17 October 2006
The Sun is making the link between Saturn and Pluto today. The sense of serious commitment continues, but now we have earth energy from the Virgo Moon; the details and “nuts and bolts” are clearer. The earthy Virgo Moon lingers through Wednesday and then we “lose touch” again.
Wednesday 18 October 2006
Minds are sharp and fine distinctions can be made. Little can be fudged. Speak the plain truth – spin isn’t really working well. Motives and agendas become clear this evening.
Thursday 19 October 2006
The Moon is Void until 12:19pm/3:19pm when she enters Libra and begins the inner movement toward Saturday’s New Moon. Venus has recapitulated the Sun’s movement and our education in “air” has begun in earnest.
Friday 20 October 2006
This is literally a breathing space before the New Moon. Take time to breathe and breathe consciously to get perspective and strengthen your sense of balance.
Saturday 21 October 2006
Today the Moon follows the same route passed over by the Sun and then Venus earlier this week as she moves toward the New Moon at 10:14pm/1:14am tonight. Take stock of what’s been learned both recently and as life-wisdom. The Moon goes Void at 10:58pm/1:58am.
Sunday 22 October 2006
And the Moon leads the group into Scorpio, entering the powerful water sign at 12:54am/2:54am. Mercury aligns exactly with Jupiter in Scorpio and the Sun aligns with Mars. Expect a shift from distance and detachment into intensity and passion. This movement from thought to emotion, from mind to body, will intensify as we enter another period of major energies and change next week.
Long Range Forecast:
November 8 – In the middle of Mercury retrograde (10/29 through 11/18) Mercury aligns exactly with the Sun in an “eclipse of Mercury”. The last time this happened was May 2003. Remember “Mission Accomplished?” I’m concerned about major Mercury aspects occurring near Election Day in the U.S. The 2000 election occurred on the day Mercury changed direction. The anticipated widespread use of electronic voting machines and validity of their results may be an issue. (Thanks to reader John Dawson for alerting me to this event.)
November 23rd – Jupiter leaves Scorpio to spend a year in his home sign of Sagittarius. Less spying and secret courts, more transparency. A new cycle of politics, foreign affairs, jurisprudence, and religious thinking begins. Political power changes hands.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
April 14, 2009 – October 21, 2010
- Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in
Capricorn. The end of
business-as-usual politics. The
nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government
will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto,
a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology
and/or petroleum-based economies fail.
Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a
car. Plan to live where you’ll know your
neighbors…maybe even love them. What a
thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
