The Week beginning August 27th, 2007
Week as a Whole:
Greece is on fire, the U.S. Midwest is still underwater, and Alberto Gonzales finally resigns. Yes, it’s eclipse season again. Tuesday morning’s eclipse is at its maximum straight across the U.S. mainland. The Moon is Full in Pisces in a chart filled with opposition and tension. We’re in a period of major adjustment to changing realities. And Saturn is passing over Regulus, the star of kings, in the last degree of Leo. “The times they are a’changin.”
This lunar eclipse, like all lunar eclipses, is a “super” Full Moon. The Earth, Moon, and Sun form a straight line such that the Earth’s shadow passes over the Full Moon. The basic life energies are dialed up to the max. Light is bright and everywhere, there’s no hiding place ‘round here. Much can be accomplished if you’re in balance and able to keep several balls in the air. And we all seem to be juggling as fast as we can these days. There are no shades of grey under a lunar eclipse. We’re forced to make choices, obvious choices, in full knowledge that choosing also means letting go. Our reactions are intense, if not extreme, and public reactions come from below the neck.
The eclipse comes just at sunrise in Washington, D.C. The chart looks like a TV test pattern. Across the horizontal axis there’s the Sun rising in the 9 o’clock position opposite the setting Moon at 3. There’s Venus opposite Neptune, and Mercury opposite Uranus. Three pairs of opposites. The planets on the left or rising side get their energy from Mercury in Virgo. Those on the right, setting, are charged by the powerful pair of Neptune and Uranus that has formed the unsettling background of global change for several years now.
Mars atop the chart is still opposite Jupiter below and their opposition makes what’s called a “grand cross” with the horizontal pairings. This is an extraordinarily tense pattern. And it remains in effect and even repeats at the Solar Eclipse coming on September 11th. September 11th??!! So we should run and hide in our closets quivering until it blows over. Of course not. But it may help to keep the concepts of the Serenity Prayer in mind:
God grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
The Courage to change the things I can,
And the Wisdom to know the difference.
Change is upon us and we can re-orient to realities that will open up over the next weeks. We will learn much, but we will not be the source of change. Most of us will be reacting and adjusting to changes in our situations. Some people will act out as a result of unbearable internal pressure and their action will spread ripples out into their world.
Much of this is mental: attitudes and perceptions in flux. There will be more extreme weather and possibly geology affecting the U.S. But America cannot see its allies nor can it see its enemies clearly. At this eclipse we seem trapped inside our projections about the world, and we’re likely to have a rude, but in the long run, healthy shock to our mindset.
Those of us whose horoscopes connect with this pattern have a chance to make major strides toward self-understanding and acquire new communication skills if they can resist petty irritations. All of us will experience flashes of sudden insight, some of which might sting a bit, since the inner planets (Mercury and Venus) are both opposed by transcendental (Uranus and Neptune). Put another way, we’ll live through situations that open us up to new points of view that will challenge the categories we use to order our world.
So exiting our closets we can be aware that we’re all stressed and be kind to each other. We should remember that Mars in Gemini is a verbal gunslinger with a quick trigger. Some words can never be taken back, so think first. These are exciting times of extra high energy. Much can be accomplished with balance and forethought. Double check your reactions if you feel the heat. Know that many of our brothers and sisters don’t understand the global birthing that’s taking place, and they’re anxious. Share your vision and your peace.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 27 August 2007
Emerging from vivid dreams, the day starts slowly and climbs uphill until the Moon goes briefly Void from 6:23pm/9:23pm to 7:34pm/10:34pm when she enters Pisces and moves toward the eclipse. In the U.S. set your alarm for 2-4AM and get outside to see the shadow dance across the Moon.
Tuesday 28 August 2007
Zing Zing Zing - Eclipse and Mercury is exactly opposite Uranus. Mental high test is flowing so try not to over-rev your engine. The Moon makes the cross most intense this afternoon through 6:00pm/9:00pm.
Wednesday 29 August 2007
Still tense but coming down a bit today. The Moon goes Void at 3:22pm/6:22pm square to Pluto and something ends that should end. Let go or get your fingers stung. The Moon enters Aries at 9:25pm/12:25am.
Thursday 30 August 2007
The Aries Moon shows us places where we can act and make a difference, finally. Think ahead, there’s a solution to be found.
Friday 31 August 2007
The tension earlier this week is moving off like a summer thunderstorm. The air is clean and recharged today as we make some final decisions we’ve been putting off all summer.
Saturday 1 September 2007
The Moon has entered Taurus overnight and there’s a calm before the storm that comes tomorrow and Monday when the cross-tensions reform in earnest. Relax and get physical.
Sunday 2 September 2007
Saturn enters Virgo today and leaves Leo. All you Leos can breathe a sigh of relief and you Virgos can roll up your sleeves. There’s the potential for violence today as Mars moves to square Uranus and the Sun moves to square Jupiter. The eclipse electricity is back and strong. Hang in there we have another bumpy week ahead and then it cools down.
Long Range Forecast:
July 28th – September 9th – Venus is retrograde. First impressions are not necessarily valid. Give people a second chance. Don’t make any major purchases unless you like standing in the return line. Use this time to get to know what you need to be happy and at peace.
August 5th, 2007 – Saturn finally completes the contact with Pluto he almost made last December. As reported then, real political progress will finally take off. Much of the fall’s hopes and expectations can begin to be realized.
September 3rd, 2007 – Saturn enters Virgo for a two and one-half year stay. Given Virgo’s association with health and the military, we can expect to see some progress with U.S. health care legislation and some major changes in the military organization. Perhaps a universal service requirement could be introduced.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
Nov 3, 2008 – Saturn makes an opposition to Uranus that echoes the Saturn
– Uranus/Pluto opposition of March 6, 1966.
Ex-hippies take note. On March 4th,
John Lennon was quoted as saying "We're more popular than Jesus now." The revival of Sixties cultural themes begins
now and builds slowly toward the Uranus – Pluto squares beginning in 2012.
November 15, 2009 – March 21,
2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to
Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their
twilight times. The transition to
organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate
feudal mixture. (Thanks to Rob Ryan for
catching a typo in the date.)
August 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015
- Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to
Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology
and/or petroleum-based economies fail.
Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a
car. Plan to live where you’ll know your
neighbors…maybe even love them. What a
thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
