Celestial Weather

21 August 2006 – 27 August 2006

The Week beginning August 21st, 2006

Week as a Whole:

First, some administrative details: the reporting week has been shifted ahead to reflect the time these reports are posted.  When I began Celestial Weather reports I would write on Friday and send on Saturday.  My life patterns have shifted and Sunday is my writing and transmission day.  So this one-day shift ahead makes sense…thanks to a reader suggestion.  Second, there have been higher percentages of undeliverable emails lately, primarily from readers with hotmail, webtv, and msn accounts.  Of course if you’re reading this you know you can get the report here, but if you have been on the list but not receiving CW emails, work with your internet email provider to allow CW through their spam filters.  The size of the mailing list has grown enough (nearly 2,000) to attract the attention of the spam police.

The week begins with Mercury having aligned with Saturn and moving into the opposition to Neptune.  As mentioned last week, Mercury and Venus will be moving into the tense T-square patterns that have prevailed for many weeks.  Currently the most powerful of these is Saturn passing opposite Neptune which will be exact next week.  Jupiter makes narrowing square angles with both Saturn and Neptune and he also is connected in four sign angle with Uranus which is also made exact next week just forty-eight hours before the Saturn – Neptune angle.  The chaos and boundary issues that we see in the Middle East reflect these political planets in conflict.  New ideals and forms of power are coming into being; old strategies aren’t working.  Winners are losers and vice versa.  Political expectations are crashing against poorly perceived realities.  Politicians persist, under these “fixed energy” planets, in following flawed policies hoping to succeed simply by force of will and wishful thinking.

Over the next month, through the Equinox and Eclipse on September 22nd, these conditions will intensity.  Iran or Syria may become directly involved.  Oil prices may be affected.  We will all be affected.  But after Jupiter squares Saturn in October and moves beyond toward Sagittarius, we can expect some easing of tensions.

But the movements of Mercury and Venus into these powerful and long-term energy patterns bring this tension into our personal lives.  It’s no longer a TV experience, it’s happening to us.  And because we have an agile consciousness and free-will, unlike the slow shifting political masses, we can make much better use of these energies once we understand them.  Our inner picture of ourselves, for those touched horoscopically, can be re-defined.  Our sense of purpose and direction may shift, and that shift may be a shift away from a long-held goal before a new goal appears.  This can create a feeling of wandering lost in the forest.  It’s important to take quiet time now to clearly focus on what you want creatively and emotionally for your future.

Neptune and Mercury can combine to spin tales of what might be.  They can combine to spin a web intended to hide an unpleasant reality.  They can combine to reveal the magical underpinnings of our world.  Since they are using Leo and Aquarius, social affiliations, group goals, political alliances, and personal choice are involved.

Mercury moves on, after Wednesday’s New Moon in Virgo, to connect with Pluto.  First Neptune, then Pluto three days later.  Our information systems (Mercury) are receiving content from the larger hidden worlds of the collective consciousness and the emerging unified global consciousness.  On a more mundane level, secrets will be revealed, hidden information will be disclosed.  On a personal level, we can gain insight into our own motivations and those of the people around us.  Our ideas expand and intertwine creating a fertile period for artists of all types.

This New Moon, at the very first degree of Mercury’s sign Virgo, is a time to digest and integrate this new information over the next lunar cycle.  This degree is symbolized by the “idealization of a person’s features in a portrait.”  This has a very Neptunian ring to it, as if we didn’t have enough Neptune.  The idea is to distill the important from the trivial in order to understand the essence of a person or situation.  The negative is to see the ideal as the whole picture and set oneself up for disappointment.  Virgo is always about food-taking and digestion.  Because of the very early degree, we are beginning a new cycle of nourishment and we should use this New Moon to analyze the food we eat, the food we listen to, the food we watch, and the food we feel.  All these foods and more affect us as they become us.

Venus follows Mercury, this Tuesday, as she moves into a square with Jupiter.  This is the square that buzzed out our minds last week when Mercury made it.  Venus works more in feelings and impressions than mental activity.  Expect to ride higher highs and lower lows.  Expect occasional exaggerated reactions.  Keep a lid on rumors and narrow-eyed suspicions.  Think Auntie Mame.  But this surge of Jupiterian expansion will quickly fade as Venus aligns with Saturn next Saturday.  This is when any personal excesses may be regretted.  Venus and Saturn connect every year to show us social situations we’ve outgrown and to solidify those that form the core of our lives.  Old friends, lost friends and family, may resurface and present obligations and strengths perhaps ignored or forgotten.  Next Sunday, Venus will pass opposite Neptune and again “ideals” are working on us.  For those contacted, their personal karma cards will be punched.  With Venus and Saturn in Leo and Neptune in Aquarius, one big question will be “Who do you love?”

Stepping back, remember we’re entering a period of extremes and feeling exhausted and/or confused is to be expected.  Plan to rest yourself and give your fellow travelers a chance to pause as well.  Rather than fearing these changes, I suggest we remember the Stones’ lyric: “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try, sometime, you might get what you need.”

Daily Forecasts:

This Week:

Monday 21 August 2006

With Mercury opposite Neptune at midday, some confusion is to be expected.  So is a media event that may be pure froth and glamour.  Some James Bond stuff may be thrown in as well.  Watch the small details and follow your feelings.

Tuesday 22 August 2006

Venus and Jupiter make for big reactions both good and bad.  The balance point may be sensitive.  Money matters may arise and we should think carefully before signing the check.

Wednesday 23 August 2006

The Moon is Void until 11:08am/2:08pm when she enters Virgo.  The New Moon follows quickly at 12:10pm/3:10pm.  People are very busy with internals, they’re likely distracted and unfocused.  Take time out to look inside and put some words on the ideal features of what you’d like from your life.  Say what you want out loud to the universe.

Thursday 24 August 2006

Nowhere to hide today.  Mercury and Pluto are peering into dark corners and submicroscopic levels.  Stick to the truth even if it hurts a bit.

Friday 25 August 2006

The Moon exactly passes over Mars this morning at 6:12am/9:12am.  Up and at ‘em.  Mars always benefits from a healthy challenge or outlet.  The Moon goes Void at 12:00pm/3:00pm so don’t expect to accomplish anything new this afternoon.

Saturday 26 August 2006

Just a minute after midnight, the Moon enters Libra and becomes subject to Venus who is aligning with Saturn.  Avoid embarrassing yourself and others.  The low-energy feeling will pass more quickly if you put yourself with those you care most about.  If you’re unhappy, root out the reason and make some decisions.

Sunday 27 August 2006

Venus is now opposite Neptune and if we’re not doing what we want, remember that time is ticking by and we have no time to waste.  Do whatever it takes to “find your bliss.”

Long Range Forecast:

September 22nd – A Solar Eclipse on the Fall Equinox extends the eclipse’s intensity over the autumn season. Politics and religion driven by unthinking emotion return with Jupiter square to Neptune again and Saturn still opposite Neptune.  This forms the tense T-square pattern that indicates power struggles and extreme political hard ball.  Sun, Moon, and Mars all in Libra may demonstrate that combat and competition are also forms of relationships.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
