13 August 2007 – 19 August 2007

The Week beginning August 13th, 2007

Week as a Whole:

Yesterday’s New Moon featured five planets in Leo: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Saturn.  That’s half of the major planets used in astrology.  This week, although the Moon has moved on, Venus backs (she’s retrograde, remember) into Saturn, then the Sun and in between connects with Pluto.  More than anything else, Leo is the sign of loving where our hearts shine out to warm those around us.  And we all know that Venus is the planet of love, really the planet of relationships, but certainly love is a primary human relationship.  Saturn and Pluto’s involvement command our serious attention in this week’s seminar in the art of loving.

Venus began this week aligned with Saturn in Leo.  And this brings to mind the responsibilities that come with loving another person.  Consider the root words in responsibility: ability to respond.  When we love we expect a response both from our hearts and from those we love and when neither is forthcoming, we find ourselves making hard choices.  When we’ve gone the extra mile, too many miles too many times, Venus mixing with Saturn makes these hard thoughts inescapable.  While it may seem unromantic to measure our love, and while the highest form of spiritual love gives without asking for a return, from time to time we need to consider where we cast our pearls.

Making the choice to walk away from a love relationship is certainly a possible outcome under these skies, so is realizing the depth and power of a strong loving bond.  This too is Saturn’s influence.

Another creative Leo manifestation is children.  Those who work with children may find this week to be especially trying as Saturn and Venus combine to test and reapply rules and limits to those cute little tykes.  We may find ourselves dealing more with the not-so-cute tykes than we’d like, but loving those who are hard to love is also Saturn in Leo.  So are “tough love” and interventions and taking away the car keys, and being the heavy who teaches the lesson of consequences.

Please note that Venus will make another alignment with Saturn after she finishes her retrograde period.  That will be on October 13th, the day Mercury goes retrograde again.  Expect to revisit some of the people and lesson from this week in October.

Also this week Mercury passes opposite Neptune, aligns with the Sun and moves on to align with Saturn on Saturday.  Mixed in with our feelings and reactions under review, our minds are first dazzled and then a little confused by ideals of behavior and acceptance.  The Sun – Mercury alignment can make every word we speak and every word spoken to us carry extra weight.  We may pontificate more than we converse.  We may find ourselves spinning rather than explaining if we’re not alert to this possibility.  But much of this mental “noise” will be swept away when Mercury joins Saturn and we find the words to explain how our feelings have changed and clarified over this week.

Make no mistake, as we reflect on how we express our feelings we’re refining our self-image and ego structure.  We have an opportunity to learn and grow out of old versions of ourselves.  Venus, Mercury, and the Sun all link with Pluto as they align with Saturn.  This is heavy magic.  Expect to feel you’re carrying a weight through this week and into next week until next Tuesday when the Sun finishes this long period of self-analysis as he is the last to align with Saturn.  Feelings and events that almost surfaced last fall have come around again, this time to really work out.  The feeling that we’re at the end of an era is very much what these astrological conditions are.  In ancient times we would be preparing the king to be sacrificed at the end of his reign to fertilize the land for new growth.  We can take this energy and sacrifice a part of our ego that no longer applies and create space for new growth in our hearts and minds.

We need to pace ourselves during the coming weeks.  This “super-Leo” New Moon comes to Full in a lunar eclipse on August 28th.  So we may feel a relatively low energy week next week, but after that we build toward the eclipse and much of what’s happening now on the inside will be fully illuminated.  Confusion now for some, clarity coming.

Daily Forecasts:

Monday 13 August 2007

A serious grind as Venus aligns with Saturn.  We’re feeling the weight and our extra high expectations from the Sun opposite Neptune don’t make it any easier.  Allow yourself to make mistakes and learn.  Embrace your human failings.  The Moon is Void from 6:34am/9:34am until she enters Virgo at 11:03am/2:03pm

Tuesday 14 August 2007

We’re still living in the land of dreams with now Mercury following the Sun opposite to Neptune.  Glimpses of perfection can inspire or confuse.  Know them as goals and targets.

Wednesday 15 August 2007

Venus links with Pluto today and every word and gesture seems charged with meaning.  No trivial pursuits allowed.  Time to recognize what’s finally over and done.  Let go with love.  Let go before 2:02pm/5:02pm when the Moon goes Void.  She enters Libra at 9:04pm/12:04am.

Thursday 16 August 2007

The love boat juggernaut continues on course today under the Libra Moon.  Here’s a brief breathing space and some air to get some distance.  Try to step back and think about how it feels to be someone else around you.

Friday 17 August 2007

More Pluto depth charges early, but this evening is made for high romance and sweet passion.  The Leo Sun and Venus are aligned and the Moon is in Libra making easy connections.  Despite all the heaviness, here’s a time to enjoy the depth of joy in our hearts.

Saturday 18 August 2007

The Moon is Void from 5:21am/8:21am until she enters Scorpio at 9:13am/12:13pm.  Mercury is with Saturn and the mood has definitely grown more serious overnight.  If there was one last thought you haven’t shared, do it today with Mercury on the last degree.

Sunday 19 August 2007

The Sun links with Pluto today and Mercury enters his strong sign of Virgo.  The fire and air are subsiding as we work our way toward the real results of our choices of the past week.  Look back at who you were and look at who you’ve become.

Long Range Forecast:

July 28th – September 9thVenus is retrograde.  First impressions are not necessarily valid.  Give people a second chance.  Don’t make any major purchases unless you like standing in the return line.  Use this time to get to know what you need to be happy and at peace.

August 5th, 2007 – Saturn finally completes the contact with Pluto he almost made last December.  As reported then, real political progress will finally take off.  Much of the fall’s hopes and expectations can begin to be realized.

September 3rd, 2007 – Saturn enters Virgo for a two and one-half year stay.  Given Virgo’s association with health and the military, we can expect to see some progress with U.S. health care legislation and some major changes in the military organization.  Perhaps a universal service requirement could be introduced.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

Nov 3, 2008 – Saturn makes an opposition to Uranus that echoes the Saturn – Uranus/Pluto opposition of March 6, 1966.  Ex-hippies take note.  On March 4th, John Lennon was quoted as saying "We're more popular than Jesus now."  The revival of Sixties cultural themes begins now and builds slowly toward the Uranus – Pluto squares beginning in 2012.

November 15, 2009 – March 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.  (Thanks to Rob Ryan for catching a typo in the date.)

August 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
