13 August 2006 – 19 August 2006
The Week beginning August 13th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
Mars opposite Uranus is peaking and passing today with the Moon in Aries, the sign of Mars. Perhaps there will be a break in the Lebanon fighting as this tense and explosive pattern fades away. The energy of Uranus acts to remind us that life is not routine and doesn’t always follow a Saturn type pattern. Uranus, the lightning bolt, wakes us up to the fact that each moment is precious, that the future is not totally shaped by the past, the life in its essence is wild and free. Airplanes didn’t have to blow up and human sacrifice was not required in the news from London that brought Uranian energy into our lives. Saturn can lull us into a form of sleep with his patterns and cycles; Uranus is the antidote to this ennui.
Amid all the tense and difficult patterns in our sky, Uranus forms a “lucky” connection with Jupiter in Scorpio. In this pattern, too, he expresses the unexpected. Pisces, where Uranus is now, is known for its compassion and resonance with the poor and disadvantaged. Scorpio, Jupiter’s present abode, is related to money, big money, inheritable money. So when Warren Buffett donates vast wealth to the Gates Foundation he is also making a perfect expression of Jupiter in Scorpio linked with Uranus in Pisces. So also is the recent condemnation of shark “finning” by the Chinese basketball star Yao Ming. Shark fin soup is like Chinese apple pie, Yao is breaking with convention, shaking up the status quo and taking some personal risk in the doing.
Last week the Full Moon fell almost exactly on the Saturn – Neptune tense opposition. This week the Sun links with Pluto in an angle that assists us in evolving out of our outgrown life patterns. This connection allows us to integrate death and rebirth of Pluto without the fear baggage that so often comes with the hard contacts. We can let go more easily and thus liberate ourselves and lighten our load.
We can hope that this will hold out some chance for the peace resolution in Lebanon especially now that the Mars – Uranus ultra-violence has peaked and is rapidly fading. But the long-term tense aspect patterns remain in place and will become increase their intensity through late September.
Late this week, Mercury begins a series of contacts with these long term tensions. On Friday he makes a square angle with Jupiter, next Sunday he aligns with Saturn in opposition to Neptune which is exactly focused next Monday. This may open channels of communication that will help us to understand; it may bring to light new and important facts. When Mercury combines with Saturn – Neptune as he will next weekend, take care with speech since words have more than their usual magic powers. Choose your words carefully and think of their effect like ripples spreading out into your life. You can be sure that political spinmeisters will be choosing their words very carefully.
Venus will follow Mercury through this pattern in two weeks. This processional of the inner planets through the tense political landscape should make the suffering and damage less abstract for many of us. We will learn more and more about the human stories in Lebanon, Gaza, and Iraq. We will have feelings about them.
Daily Forecasts:
This Week:
Sunday 13 August 2006
Tensions peak this morning as Mars passes opposite Uranus, then they subside and the Aries Moon links with the Leo Sun and Sagittarius Pluto to give us courage and energy.
Monday 14 August 2006
Overnight the Moon has entered her sign of power: Taurus. The morning is a bit awkward and slow going when the Moon squares both Mercury and Venus. Go slow and easy, take small steps and keep moving forward. Look for help from a “rich uncle” later in the day.
Tuesday 15 August 2006
And if the uncle doesn’t come through, contacts to Mars and Uranus overnight will illustrate how to get things done on your own. The flow is still slow with squares to Saturn and Neptune this morning. Be very clear about what you make visible and about your ambitions. Fuzzy or sloppy thinking will not be rewarded. The Moon goes Void at 6:51pm/9:51pm in her Last Quarter position.
Wednesday 16 August 2006
There’s a feeling of release after the Moon enters Gemini at 7:07am/10:07am. We’ve been swimming against the tide since Sunday, but now the tide has turned a bit. The Sun and Pluto work to allow us to step out of the past like taking off an old suit of clothes.
Thursday 17 August 2006
A very busy, very mental day with an active Moon. Our minds are quick, sometimes too quick, with words bursting out before we have a chance to fully consider their impact. Everyone’s a little snappy until the Moon square to Mars is past at 12:42pm/3:42pm. Mercury is moving to square Jupiter and where our egos are involved, we can “multiply the smallest matter.”
Friday 18 August 2006
The Moon goes Void at 5:30am/8:30am and stays Void until 2:03pm/5:03pm when she enters Cancer. If you wake up with a great idea, don’t share it until after the Moon enters Cancer.
Saturday 19 August 2006
The Moon moves on into Cancer and makes a watery triangle with Jupiter in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces. This is the energy that the Buffett gift expressed. Our feelings flow and expand. Our minds go slow and feel “on the spot” with the alignment with Saturn coming tomorrow. We may be discovering some unpleasant but important information.
Long Range Forecast:
September 22nd – A Solar Eclipse on the Fall Equinox extends the eclipse’s intensity over the autumn season. Politics and religion driven by unthinking emotion return with Jupiter square to Neptune again and Saturn still opposite Neptune. This forms the tense T-square pattern that indicates power struggles and extreme political hard ball. Sun, Moon, and Mars all in Libra may demonstrate that combat and competition are also forms of relationships.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail. Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car. Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them. What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
