Celestial Weather

6 August 2006 – 12 August 2006

The Week beginning August 6th, 2006

Week as a Whole:

This week’s Full Moon in Aquarius puts a bright light on two opposing planets that symbolize the struggles of our times.  Saturn makes the exact opposition to Neptune on August 31st, but he moves so slowly, and Neptune moves even slower, that we’re already feeling this tension.  Saturn in Leo is testing old-fashioned executive power.  Bush, who has Leo as his rising sign, is an especially good example of this.  And these old-school leaders of the Western powers are opposed and in confrontation with people represented by Neptune in Aquarius.  These are amorphous groups of highly idealistic political radicals who don’t play the old game.  Military leaders call this situation asymmetrical warfare.  We can call it future shock.

Saturn rules the beginning of this week with the Moon in his sign, Capricorn, and the Sun moving to exactly align with him early Monday morning.  When Saturn combines with the Sun, we all are seeking to clarify our sense of identity and purpose in the world.  When we strive toward goals that are vague or inappropriate, we smack into Saturn’s walls and limits.  When we take the time to focus, let go of outgrown ideas, and organize then Saturn becomes our ally.  If we’re nurturing puffed up ego structures, Saturn is handy with his sharp pin.  The 12 step prayer urges us to have the “courage to change the things we can.”  Saturn in Leo brings lessons so we gain the wisdom to know our limits.

Sadly, nations and movements of people don’t have the free will and individual consciousness that we can exercise as people.  Changes in group consciousness, cultural change, come slowly and sometimes at a great price.  This opposition pattern is long lasting and its effect will linger into the fall.  This Full Moon visually illustrates the conflict in our world.  Note the Sun and Saturn on the left opposite the Moon and Neptune on the right forming a 4 planet see-saw across the chart.  The Full Moon illuminates this struggle for dominance between highly visible leaders and highly motivated groups that easily merge and disappear into their cultures.  Like the fulcrum to a see-saw, Jupiter lies at the bottom of the chart.  And he’s moving to form a square with Neptune just as Saturn leaves the opposition.  By the Fall Equinox, Jupiter is square to Neptune and also square to Saturn.   These religious and political forces in conflict are rising to critical levels over the next two months.  Much as I hope I’m wrong, I don’t see the world in a calm state until next winter at the earliest.

This week is an early peaking of these energies.  They will rise and fall and then rise even higher later this month.  All the signs involved in this T-square pattern are “fixed” signs, slow to change, slow to yield up power, and easy to slide into battles of will.  We, with our choice and understanding, can cultivate flexibility in our lives.  We can give in and adjust as much as possible.  We can wake up in situations where our jaw is locked and heels dug in over small matters.  And in doing this, we will find we’ve gained power over the situation to unblock and release it.

All this week Mars is moving to perfect the other opposition that’s already visible in the Full Moon chart.  Mars is in the 8 o’clock position moving opposite to Uranus at 2 o’clock.  Mars and Uranus are violent by nature.  In combination, they can be dangerous.  When opposed Mars’ natural impulse is to knock down the barrier and charge, battering ram style.  Uranus leans toward explosives and “total” solutions.  These are necessary forces in life that bring change and counteract crystallization.  But linked in tense relationship, excess is likely.  Here again, we can use this to break out of old habit patterns and make new starts.  We can acknowledge alternate ways of seeing the world.  Here again, political entities have less choice.  Mars is exactly opposite Uranus next Sunday, but his energy almost always acts in advance, so we will see and feel his aggression rising through this week.

Late this week Mercury and Venus both (they’re together at 10 o’clock in the FM chart) move out of Cancer and into Leo.  More fixed energy.  10 days from now when the Moon passes through Taurus, there will be 7 out of 10 planets in fixed signs.  If you feel like you’re moving through wet cement, this is why.  Life has become a Nautilus machine for a while.  We’re building muscle and that old standby “character’ under this stress.  On the subject of stress, perhaps the healthiest act we can do for ourselves is to take rest time.  Step off the exercise machine, kick back, and lay down the weight.  And keep in mind that we’re in a very unusually tense period of time and that relief and vision will return with winter.

Daily Forecasts:

This Week:

Sunday 6 August 2006

Purchase wisely today under the Capricorn Moon.  The Mars – Moon link this afternoon favors planning and budgeting.

Monday 7 August 2006

That heavy feeling is the Sun – Earth – and Saturn lining up.  So is the feeling of being “on the spot”.  Our responsibilities weigh heavily late this afternoon as the Moon goes Void at 6:44pm/9:44pm after opposing Venus and Mercury.  Not socially easy or fun-filled.

Tuesday 8 August 2006

Put your money to work today when Mars in Virgo gets help from Jupiter in Scorpio.  If you need resources, today is a good day to ask.  The Moon rises tonight almost Full.  The world is tense and feels like it’s coming apart.

Wednesday 9 August 2006

The Moon is Full at 3:54/6:54am.  A night of heavy dreams and serious thoughts.  Make sure those you love, know that fact, feel that fact, and allow them to return that love to you.  That can lift the weight.

Thursday 10 August 2006

The Sun passes exactly opposite to Neptune today.  Our ideals can blind us to reality.  It’s easier for those affected to see what they want to see than to see what is.  Magic, beauty, and perfection can be touched but not easily held.  Hard lessons await those who try to bottle up spirit.  Be very careful on the roads from now through the weekend.  Mars and Uranus can convert cars into weapons and escalate minor irritation into life and death struggles.  Kill ‘em with courtesy and drive on.

Friday 11 August 2006

The Mars – Uranus tension continues but without much focus until late this afternoon when the Moon squares Pluto.  Some surprise and a loss of control is in store for some of us.

Saturday 12 August 2006

The Moon has shifted from Pisces into Aries overnight and activates the new fire of Mercury and Venus in Leo.  Use the Mars – Uranus to get physical with someone you love in a new and unusual way.  Note how our inner life has shifted, and despite truly bad situations in the world, we’re feeling more upbeat.

Long Range Forecast:

September 22nd – A Solar Eclipse on the Fall Equinox extends the eclipse’s intensity over the autumn season. Politics and religion driven by unthinking emotion return with Jupiter square to Neptune again and Saturn still opposite Neptune.  This forms the tense T-square pattern that indicates power struggles and extreme political hard ball.  Sun, Moon, and Mars all in Libra may demonstrate that combat and competition are also forms of relationships.

November 23rd - Jupiter leaves Scorpio and enters his home sign, Sagittarius, ending a year of emotionally clouded vision and limited insight.  This may begin an end to a long dark period of conflict and clashing ideologies.  Early in December 6 planets are in Sagittarius aiding Jupiter as he emerges from his long journey through Pluto’s realm.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
