30 July 2006 –
5 August 2006
The Week beginning July 30th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
On Sunday Venus links with Uranus to create emotional space and open minds to new possibilities…more below. But the energy this week builds toward Wednesday with a highly active Moon that makes the 1st Quarter square with the Sun just as the Sun makes a square angle with Jupiter. This combo accentuates the innate conflict between the Sun’s current sign (Leo) and Jupiter’s (Scorpio). One of Leo’s core values is independent action and freedom of will. This easily and often slides into self-centeredness, but that’s a risk for Leo natives who must explore and develop what it is to have a human ego. Scorpio, by contrast, is about joint action in which two or more people are committed and whose lives are bound together. This is not independent action; it’s cooperation with shared power.
Both Leo and Scorpio are what are known as “fixed” signs. They have mass and tend to resist adjustments; they can persist under stress and prevail over resistance. This can be their virtue and it can be their downfall. The Sun shines in Leo; it’s his home sign and power location. Leo emits warmth, beauty, style, and personal affection into the world. Leo natives attract the spotlight and naturally lead. They are not subtle by nature. They are “deciders” not “thinkers”. Scorpio tends to avoid the spotlight, preferring free movement in the shadows, and operates with emotional intensity. Jupiter is not “at home” in Scorpio. Like the Sun, Jupiter is a fiery light bearing planet and when in Scorpio his naturally broad vision is clouded and his philosophy is entwined with personal desires. Jupiter is the primary planet of our religious impulses, our desire to belong to a larger whole based on a trust in humanity as a whole. This trust and faith struggles against suspicion and clannishness when Jupiter is in Scorpio as he is now.
A very similar emotional religiosity has been in play during the recent past as indicated by Pluto’s long slow passage through Sagittarius. As noted in previous reports, Pluto is the energy planet for Scorpio and he is in Jupiter’s sign Sagittarius, just as Jupiter, energy planet for Sagittarius, is in Pluto’s sign Scorpio. So it’s not surprising that religious violence has reached even higher levels during this resonant phase between Jupiter and Pluto. On a hopeful note, Jupiter will exit Scorpio and enter his home sign in late November, and maybe then we will see a return to more wholesome religious attitudes.
As individuals, this 1st Quarter Moon challenges us to carefully make commitments we can live with and will honor. We have this time to find common goals with those we love. Our power grows if we can successfully share resources with our partners. We must recognize the need for give and take, power-sharing, if we’re to achieve those goals. If we can do this, we can feel safe in our relationships and know they are a foundation for us.
The 1st Quarter Moon is always a time to deal with our past and come to terms with it in a new way. We’re looking to find a place to stand on our own. Our projects are developing roots and connections. We’re concerned with inner work and family matters. It’s a nurturing time. But with the conflicted Jupiter in Scorpio as a factor, we need to be very conscious and precise about these roots and connections. Alliances that offer short-term personal gain may seem very attractive, but may prove unreliable and even toxic in the long run. The only good deal is a deal that’s good for everyone. The assumption of a zero-sum situation can raise the level of drama, and violence, but it doesn’t always apply even though egos and suspicions emotionally thrive there.
If we can bring into the week the emotional openness from Sunday’s Venus – Uranus contact it will help. Consider the difference between a close friend relationship and a passionate attachment. Love exists in both, but it’s much easier to let our friends be free to be themselves. Venus with Uranus enjoys and encourages personal freedom of expression; she seeks contact and intimacy without grasping and clinging. She seeks to help rather than control. On Wednesday, after the Moon aligns with Jupiter, she moves on to link Uranus and then Venus forming a water triangle that echo’s Sunday’s energy. Emotions easily expand and surge under this watery confluence. Five of the ten planets are in water signs. Our sense of a common experience and a common fate is vivid. This emotion can intensify the “us” vs. ‘them” or it can work to break down those boundaries. Individually, we can make this choice; collectively it’s not so easy.
Daily Forecasts:
This Week:
Sunday 30 July 2006
Allow your flair for the unusual to guide you. Listen to your hunches and quiet inner voices. You know more than you think you know. Feelings rule.
Monday 31 July 2006
Look for a balance in your affairs. Make sure everyone feels included and important. The Moon goes Void at 6:54pm/9:54pm. Get it done before then.
Tuesday 1 August 2006
The Moon enters Scorpio at 6:08am/9:08am making five planets in water signs. Splish splash. Today has a feeling like one gets in the ocean when a big wave is building and lifting. There’s depth and history beneath and behind the surface.
Wednesday 2 August 2006
The wave crests and washes onto the beach. Emotions surface quickly and powerfully. Try to surf rather than swim against the currents. People are not listening to reason. Ask them how “they feel” about things, not what “they think”. Many of us may find today exhausting swimming in the currents and undertows. Get yourself ashore and onto solid ground if possible. Rest tomorrow when the Moon is Void.
Thursday 3 August
2006
Void overnight, the Moon stays Void until 4:13pm/7:13pm when she enters Sagittarius. Today looks like a “day after” type of day, a day to absorb and feel your way through the changes.
Friday 4 August 2006
From water to fire today, the Sagittarius Moon links with Mars, then the Leo Sun, then Uranus, and finally Saturn in Leo this evening. The focus shifts to action and illumination rather than reaction and feelings. We’re no longer so self-involved because we’re looking at a much bigger picture.
Saturday 5 August 2006
Get your work done before the Moon goes Void at 12:22pm/3:22pm. The “big picture” remains in view and maybe too much in view for some of us. The current global POV at the birth of the Aquarian Age can be daunting. New life springs out of pain and suffering, over and over.
Long Range Forecast:
September 22nd – A Solar Eclipse on the Fall Equinox extends the eclipse’s intensity over the autumn season. Politics and religion driven by unthinking emotion return with Jupiter square to Neptune again and Saturn still opposite Neptune. This forms the tense T-square pattern that indicates power struggles and extreme political hard ball. Sun, Moon, and Mars all in Libra may demonstrate that combat and competition are also forms of relationships.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010
- Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in
Capricorn. The end of
business-as-usual politics. The
nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government
will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square
angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology
and/or petroleum-based economies fail.
Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a
car. Plan to live where you’ll know your
neighbors…maybe even love them. What a
thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
