3 July 2005 – 9 July 2005
Week of July 3rd, 2005
Week as a Whole:
Hindsight is wonderful. Last week, as Jupiter, the lawgiver, continued in his passage through Libra’s scales of justice, Mars, in Aries, passed opposite and both were in a square angle with the Sun. Mars is always eager to break with the past and create change; it’s his job and no more so than when he’s at home in Aries. The resignation of Justice O’Connor so nicely fits these conditions that one feels it should have been foretold. Further adding to the “surprise” factor is Uranus, whose nature is unpredictable, closely connected as well with Jupiter. How’s that for a cop out? Anyway, I can’t help but offer a look backward at such a clear expression of the planetary patterns, especially when it carries over into this week.
At this week’s New Moon, Jupiter is in the number 10 degree of Libra. Uranus is in the number 10 degree of Pisces. Venus AND Mercury are in the number 10 degree of Leo. Looked at from Washington, D.C. for the U.S., that same number 10 degree of Leo is exactly rising on the eastern horizon (9 o’clock arrow). In George W. Bush’s chart, his Pluto is in the number 10 degree and his Mercury is closely aligned only “minutes” away. Leo is noted for decision-making, and, think what you will about GWB, he is decisive with Leo as his “rising” sign. That’s the sign, as in this New Moon, that is in his 9 o’clock position – on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth. This is the leading edge of a horoscope; it’s what is coming up over the horizon; it’s how he faces the world: “firm in his resolve.”
The New Moon at 14 Cancer 31 itself is less than a degree away from Bush’s Sun at 13 Cancer 47. Notice the New Moon’s Saturn just past Bush’s Saturn. Bush’s Jupiter is in Libra, and Jupiter now is in Libra. All these factors come together to put President Bush in the spotlight, and specifically, his decision-making ability. This is a defining moment in his life and presidency. As a “lame duck” president, he has nothing to lose and can make a Supreme Court nomination that expresses his true philosophy. The “unpredictable” Uranus energy is even more closely focused this week than it was last week.
The symbol for this New Moon degree is “in a sumptuous banquet hall, guests relax after a huge banquet.” There are many who have labored long and hard to gain power and enjoyed its fruits: G8 countries and U.S. conservatives alike. That rich feast has been at the expense of the world’s ecology and to a greater or lesser extent by exploitation of the people and resources of the Third World. The New Moon from London’s POV shows Jupiter and the number 10 degree of Libra exactly on the eastern horizon. Another decision about justice is to be made. And here too, Bush has a decision to make about global warming and African AIDS policies.
With Mercury and Venus moving to make an exact two sign angle with Jupiter this Tuesday and Wednesday, we can hope that this reflects a coming expression of the generosity and fairness of Jupiter made noblesse oblige style through Leo planets. Jupiter makes laws and policy with an eye to the future. No one can stop the shrinking of our world; industry and technology are relentlessly behind this. And if those guests at the banquet show their will to share the wealth, those in need in Africa and the Middle East may find hope for their future.
Mars is still a factor this week, effectively still at right angles with the Sun and Tuesday’s New Moon. Uranus, the wild card, is even more closely focused with Jupiter. So we can expect more surprises and sudden changes. Maybe Bush can find it within himself to truly become a “uniter, not a divider.” Maybe all of us have feasted enough on SUV’s, oil, celebrity trash, and anxious greed to step back and ask, “What’s it all for?” Maybe we’re glutted more than feasted. Maybe we can make a surprise dietary choice. Maybe our leaders can truthfully show us that sacrifice and change lie ahead if we’re to avoid ecological and social catastrophe. Maybe.
All of us, in ways large and small, will be sharing visions of our future this week, and the universe will remind us that our plans must be flexible enough to handle the unexpected when it come at us from over the horizon.

Long Range Forecast:
On the website: A look at the high energy dates
for 2005.
June 19th – Saturn returned to its natal position in George W. Bush’s
chart. The second Saturn return is said
to bring wisdom and clarity. This
event, which comes to us in our mid-fifties, in such a public figure’s life should
be illuminating. The day itself only
represents the high point of a broad bell curve that extends over several weeks
before and after.
July 10th – Look for a burst of Aries/Mars physical and mental energy as Mars
aligns and energizes the eclipse of April 8th.
July 16th – Saturn leaves Cancer and begins 2 plus years in Leo. This is a major shift in cultural focus from
home and family to leadership, self-expression, and entertainment. Saturn was last in Leo during 1975-77 when
Franco and Elvis died. U.S. Presidents
were Ford and Carter.
July 22nd – Mercury goes retrograde until August 15th. Plan major purchases, contracts, and
commitments to avoid this period unless you want to change them later. The Sun enters Leo on this day and moves
into alignment with Saturn. One of
those “corners in time” type of days.
Daily Forecasts
Sunday 3 July 2005
We all can feel something coming this week. Under a Gemini Moon we’re checking with each other to make sure we’re not alone. Make that phone call.
Monday 4 July 2005
The Moon goes Void at 9:35am/12:35pm and not much happens. We’re waiting.
Tuesday 5 July 2005
The Moon enters Cancer just after midnight at 12:07am/3:07am and the energy gathers and turns inward toward tomorrow’s New Moon.
Wednesday 6 July 2005
The New Moon occurs at 5:02am/8:02am in the U.S. A new cycle begins that will reach a crisis point in two weeks when the Full Moon occurs opposite Saturn. Consider the many families of which we are members. Consider the fruits of our earth and how she nourishes us. Consider how mothers are treated all over the world.
Thursday 7 July 2005
The Moon is Void again today starting at 9:54am/12:54pm and ending at 12:11pm/3:11pm when she enters Leo. Don’t have your big meeting or announcement during this two-hour period. Let it coast then.
Friday 8 July 2005
The Moon aligns with Mercury and Venus this afternoon and they should be visible in the western sky tonight just after sunset. Leo is about heart and affection in addition to its kingly edicts. Don’t miss this chance to open your heart.
Saturday 9 July 2005
Another long Void period begins to day at 9:49am/12:49pm. Mercury and Venus are exactly aligned: we can say what we feel, not be shy about our opinions. We will finally get some earth energy tomorrow when she enters Virgo. But first we feel the implications of our commitments with this morning’s Moon – Pluto contact.
