25 June 2006 – 8 July 2006

Two Weeks beginning June 25th, 2006

Fortnight as a Whole:

I’ll be on vacation next week so this report will cover two weeks from June 25th through July 8th

There is a New Moon this Sunday in the 4th degree of Cancer – “a cat arguing with a mouse” – a tricky degree suggesting an imbalance following a major change and the need to regain proper perspective.  The Cancer New Moon is the most quiet and introspective of all New Moons.  We are looking deep within into our past and into our feeling of belonging.  Those of us emerging from major life change need to plan quality alone time to re-balance emotionally and recover our sense of self.  We need to wary of self-justification and rationalization in a time when our desire can overpower our clarity.

This New Moon sets the tone for the entire week: quiet and emotionally sensitive.  We’ll feel better and better as the Sun moves to make harmony with Jupiter on Friday.  We shake off the worries and self-doubt and transform into an open-hearted, generous, and optimistic state of mind.

Unlike this week, next week has an intense high-energy three day period that begins on Tuesday July 4th when Mercury begins his retrograde period.  This is followed on Wednesday when Mars opposes Neptune and Venus squares Uranus.  Then on Thursday, Jupiter ends his retrograde period and resumes normal motion.  This chart is set for what may be the most intense moment in this period.

There are two distinct themes during this period.

First a mind shift.  In addition to the mental agitation that normally accompanies Mercury’s change of direction and  that manifests in communications and fact gathering systems, Jupiter’s station represents a shift in our mental “big picture”…an adjusted point of view.  Mercury symbolizes the “little” mind that thinks and speaks and analyzes; Jupiter describes our world-view, our ethics, and our philosophy.  Mercury is the trees and Jupiter is the forest.  Both relate to how our mind works.  When both are activated in less than 48 hours, we can expect our thinking to change, and we can expect some confusion and some buzz in the media (the “mind” of our culture) as a side effect.

Second, interpersonal adjustments.  Venus and Mars are the planets of love, romance, sex, courtship, diplomacy…all the ways we form relationships with each other.  Mars, of course, is the symbol of our aggression and Venus symbolizes our reaction.  On Wednesday, both Mars and Venus form tense angles with outer planets: Neptune and Uranus respectively.  When these outer invisible-to-the-naked-eye planets connect with personal planets we can find ourselves acting on impulse, feeling slightly out of control, and learning about our hidden needs and desires.  Uranus and Neptune both bring in energy that breaks down boundaries and breaks the rules.  This is one way creative space is made.

When Venus squares Uranus it marks a time when those affected want to escape from past habits and entanglements.  Relationships may suddenly transform from friendship to romance, or vice versa.  Unusual people may come into the social sphere.  Non-standard gender relationships may be revealed as possibilities.  All of us need more space to think about how we feel.

Mars passes opposite Neptune once every two years.  This is a Don Quixote connection.  Our ideal outcome, the perfect solution, is very clear.  This vision can paralyze if we think we could never attain such perfection.  It can feed disappointment if we focus on how far we are from our goal.  It can inflate the macho aspect of Mars.  Or it can ennoble and inspire us to set out on a quest like Don Quixote, a quest where the destination matters little but uplifts the spirit by the knight’s heart and courage.

During this period our expectations, and we’ll definitely have some, will be met in surprising ways.  Some will prove totally off base, and we may realize some time later that others were fulfilled but not exactly how we anticipated.

The world will be slightly mad during this time.  We’re mentally off-balance and adjusting with some Mercury retrograde confusions.  Interpersonally our social masks will be askew and we’ll be dealing with some unconscious content becoming conscious.  This week’s chart shows Venus just above 9 o’clock at 14 Gemini square to Uranus near 12 o’clock at 14 Pisces.  The Sun is just below Venus at 14 Cancer and the Moon is a 5 o’clock at 14 Scorpio.  Lots of 14’s.  Mars opposes Neptune from 7 o’clock to 1 o’clock.  Rather than a big “event” coming at this moment, view it as a wave crest charged with water (emotional) power.  Some of us will have one of those big dreams that we remember long afterward.  All of us will share in an expanded emotional feeling of connection with humanity and realize we’re alike so many more ways than we’re different.

 Daily Forecasts:

This Week:

Sunday 25 June 2006

The New Moon in Cancer is a time for family and finding an inner balance.  Our protective shells are thin, so be gentle.  The Moon moves to connect with Jupiter and our feelings swell and occasionally kvell.

Monday 26 June 2006

Still in watery Cancerland, we’re operating more from below the neck than above.

Tuesday 27 June 2006

The Moon goes Void at 9:02am/12:02pm and enters Leo at 10:09am/1:09pm.  Leo needs to give and receive affection so don’t be shy.

Wednesday 28 June 2006

Mercury slowly enters Leo today joining Mars and Saturn.  This is not his best location; he tends to orate rather than communicate.  Cultivate flexibility and listen more than speak.

Thursday 29 June 2006

The Moon goes Void at 11:24am/2:24pm until 9:15pm/12:15am when she enters Virgo.  This begins two and a half days of earth energy we’ve been lacking.  A last good time to get your shopping done before Mercury goes retro next week.

Friday 30 June 2006

The Sun flows easily with Jupiter and we feel solid with those we trust.  Family bonds are sweet and strong.

Saturday 1 July 2006

Your last shopping day until August, at least for major purchases.  The Virgo Moon goes Void just before midnight.

Next Week:

Sunday 2 July 2006

The Moon enters Libra at 10:06am/1:06am.  Another “nice” day with Venus in tune with Saturn.  We are comfortable with others, words flow easily.

Monday 3 July 2006

The Libra grace continues but Mercury is coming to a halt and mentally we may find ourselves “stuck” from time to time.  Begin your Mercury Retro practice of double checking directions and important communications.

Tuesday 4 July 2006

Mercury stands still, from Earth’s POV, just after the Moon goes Void at 12:17pm/3:17pm.  Go slow and careful and lower your expectations for today.  Everything is slightly tilted now.

Wednesday 5 July 2006

The Day of the Social Klutz.  Try to use the gaffes and faux pas to learn something.  Don’t assume, ask polite questions, and remember that other people are in the same strangeness with you.

Thursday 6 July 2006

Emotions swell over what can seem like nothing.  Tears flow both sad and joyous.  Our feelings are more reliable than our thoughts.  Avoid those who would put you in a box, neither of you will like what happens.  Give space and kindness.  The Moon goes Void at 12:54pm/3:54pm just as the Sun connects with Uranus.

Friday 7 July 2006

The Moon enters Sagittarius at 7:14am/10:14am and we’re on the other side and starting to make sense of what’s been happening.  The introspection of Mercury retrograde will bear fruit.  Contemplate your navel.

Saturday 8 July 2006

Understanding grows, things falling into place and we’re beginning to move forward.  A day of big thoughts and generosity.  Compassion’s on the rise.

Long Range Forecast:

July 5th – July 29th – Mercury undergoes his retrograde period.  Entering into contracts and major purchases are to be avoided.  Communications tend to be confused and important messages should be repeated and verified.  Often issues from the past re-surface.  Those born when Mercury was retrograde will enjoy this 3 week period.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
