18 June 2006 – 24 June 2006

Week of June 18th, 2006

Week as a Whole:

As mentioned last week, busy astrology makes for change and fatigue, and this week begins in the middle of a very busy period that concludes with next Sunday’s New Moon.  Between now and then Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus are all interacting or in an activated state.  All these planets lie outside the Earth’s orbit and this indicates that the changes occur “out” in our world, in our jobs, in our towns, in our society, and in the larger global world that affects all the smaller worlds.

Pluto made his presence known last Friday when two American soldiers were kidnapped in ambush; early this Monday Uranus stations to go retrograde  and Mars squares Jupiter ONE MINUTE LATER.  This is an explosive combination.  Before we all run for the hills, the explosion may be rhetorical and argumentative.  Mars in Leo can lead to people in authority feeling that only they can handle a situation, that their personal touch is required, and that they and no one else is competent to handle a crisis.  Think of Al Haig declaring himself in charge when Reagan was shot.

Uranus always acts to shake up the status quo…it’s his job to de-crystallize and explode convention.  Uranian energy always peaks at his “changes of direction” that come twice a year just like thunderstorms roll in on summer evenings.  Tension is released; issues simmering beneath the surface boil over.  Combined with Mars and Jupiter we can expect a situation to suddenly escalate and reveal what was previously hidden.

The Summer Solstice occurs on Wednesday and you can see Mars and Saturn at 9 o’clock rising in Washington D.C. making the square to Jupiter at 6 o’clock.  This is politics and power in conflict.  This is the leader (Leo) needing commitment and support (Jupiter in Scorpio) but not getting it or having to pay a heavy price.  The Leo feels trapped by the need to cooperate and is likely to resent this constraint.  Leo people love to be “the decider.”  Saturn and Mars in this chart fall exactly on the Mercury and Pluto rising in G.W. Bush’s horoscope.  So there’s little doubt he is feeling this tension and will express his frustration somehow.  His language and communication skills are being tested.

This Summer Solstice chart can be interpreted as the chart for the U.S. summer.  The same moment viewed from Melbourne would be the chart for Australia, London for the U.K. etc.  Note the Moon at 12 o’clock is clearly connected with the Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter square.  The Moon makes a T-square pattern we’ve seen many times before as a pattern of tension.  This Taurus Moon opposes the Jupiter in Scorpio and both Taurus and Scorpio can represent money, resources, and power.  So U.S. leadership is enmeshed in a paralyzing power struggle.  Expect economic or funding issues to be a pressure applied to affect policy.  All of us will feel a pinch this summer and need to make hard choices about how to spend limited resources.

On a more abstract level, this chart shows two pairs of planets on the right side of the chart: Jupiter and Pluto, and Uranus and Neptune.  As noted before, the confusion and vibratory undertone of our times can be seen by these two pairs.  Jupiter is in Pluto’s home sign Scorpio.  Pluto is in Jupiter’s home sign Sagittarius.  Uranus is in Neptune’s home sign Pisces and Neptune is in Uranus’ home sign Aquarius.  Energies are constantly shifting between these paired planets.  The climate is unstable, and our religious consciousness is highly stimulated.  We can all feel deep change shifting inside and beneath us.  This is unsettling and exciting.  Except for Jupiter, these are the “globalization” planets that won’t let us forget that events and choices in faraway places affect our daily lives.  And here in this Solstice chart we see them grouped on one side needing to be balanced by all the “visible” national and local planets on the other.  For the U.S. it suggests that foreign relations are largely out of our control and that we can only react well and intelligently at best.  Other nations will find a different focus.  All of us can release the resource tension by setting new long-term goals that would put present sacrifices in a healthy perspective.  And by acknowledging our interdependence and need for cooperation with others.

This is a long-term theme that can manifest in oil pricing, real estate, foreign investment, and immigration issues.  It will continue on into the Fall Equinox which occurs on a Solar Eclipse and Neptune has moved into the square with Saturn and Jupiter.

Finally, Venus leaves her home sign Taurus to enter Gemini on Friday, and we say goodbye to steady earth energy until late July when Mars enters Virgo.  The Moon will periodically pass through earth signs marking the best times for dealing with the material plane.

 Daily Forecasts:

Sunday 18 June 2006

The Moon is Void until 11:54am/2:54pm when she enters Aries.  All day the jumpy Mars – Jupiter square combines with the even more jumpy Uranus station that comes just after midnight.  Use care with machines and don’t take a hammer to your computer…or to those who disagree with you.  Make sure you have room to move.

Monday 19 June 2006

Restlessness continues and many may have had a night of light sleep and frequent awakenings.  Work independently today if possible.

Tuesday 20 June 2006

The Moon goes Void at 2:20pm/5:20pm until 3:23pm/6:23pm when she enters Taurus.  This is our last big chunk of earth energy so go outside and roll around in your garden while the Moon is here.

Wednesday 21 June 2006

The Sun enters Cancer at Solstice at 5:26am/8:26am.  The Moon moves into the T-square beginning at 7:12am/10:12am and lasting until 10:15am/1:15pm.  Time may pass slowly, resistance may be encountered.  Slow steady steps and a fresh POV are the cure for frustration.

Thursday 22 June 2006

Jupiter squares Saturn and this day marks the center of an extended period of political tension and power plays.  The Moon goes Void at 5:44pm/8:44pm aligned with Venus and the buck stops here.  She enters Gemini at 7:49pm/10:49pm.  Bye bye Earth.

Friday 23 June 2006

Taurus people may feel edgy with Venus leaving their sign today at 5:31pm/8:31pm.  They should finish up as much as possible today.  The Moon connects with Mars and Uranus tonight and some of us will be in touch with our inner bitch. Others may be just talkative under the Gemini Moon.

Saturday 24 June 2006

The Moon, still in Gemini until Void at 5:02pm/8:02pm, connects with Neptune early and Pluto late giving an other-worldly tone to the day.  Global events prevail.

Long Range Forecast:

June 22nd – Jupiter and Saturn represent the forces of culture and politics in our society.  When they interact in square as they do on the day after the Summer Solstice, a shift in the political winds is often the outcome.

July 5th – July 29th – Mercury undergoes his retrograde period.  Entering into contracts and major purchases are to be avoided.  Communications tend to be confused and important messages should be repeated and verified.  Often issues from the past re-surface.  Those born when Mercury was retrograde will enjoy this 3 week period.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
