11 June 2006 – 17 June 2006
Week of June 11th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
Every week when I begin to write the weekly forecast, I list all the significant astrological events in order. Sometimes the list is small, and sometimes, like this week, the list is long. That in itself is an indication that changes are happening this week, that energy levels are high, that many of us will feel extended and pushed over the course of this week. It’s important to keep this in mind and pace ourselves, take breaks, and remember that this intensity, while it does last into next week as well, will pass. Here is the list: there is a Full Moon Sunday in Sagittarius. Mercury “trines” Uranus on Monday. Venus makes a square with Neptune on Thursday. The Sun is opposite Pluto on Friday. Mars aligns with Saturn on Saturday in square to Jupiter…activating the Jupiter-Saturn square that becomes exact next week on the 22nd. And finally, Uranus stations retrograde next Monday and the rising Uranian energy will be felt more and more as the week progresses. All of these contacts, except for the Jupiter-Saturn square, are regularly occurring annual events. The bunching together is what’s remarkable.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius activates our information systems with the Sun in Gemini and the Moon in Sagittarius. We use these systems not only to communicate but also to find our place in the world. A neighborhood feels comfortable because we know a myriad of details about how to get around in it and where things are. We know where to park at the dry cleaners and when the supermarket is not crowded. We know our neighbors’ habits and family structure. These Gemini details make us feel at home and safe. We’d like to feel safe in our society as well and so we seek to find communities that share our values and ethics. We gather information about our leaders and political events from the media, the lecture hall, and the pulpit so we can understand our world. Ideally, these two worlds – the local neighborhood and society – are in harmony. But Pluto has been passing through Sagittarius for many years and our understanding of society and how we fit in has been sorely challenged. Our biology wires us for small towns, but our technology brings the whole globe into our village. This Full Moon illuminates this struggle that all of us are working to resolve.
Mercury’s helpful contact with Uranus that follows on Monday suggests that our minds are more open than usual and that our feelings can lead us to greater compassion despite forces that seek to divide us for their own reasons.
When Venus is square to Neptune, as she is on Thursday, we can see perfection: perfection in people and situations, perfection in art, and in ourselves. We can be “blinded” by this glimpse of the ideal and lose sight of important details. This is a time to cherish the magic moments that can happen between people around this time, but also a time to leave your checkbook at home. There can be intense interactions with strangers that seem like old friends. Clinging to these moments is often a mistake, but so is denying their validity in the present. Karma in action.
The second part of this cosmic one-two punch comes the next day when the Earth moves exactly between the Sun and Pluto. This happens every year and, from our POV, we say the Sun is opposite Pluto. This signifies a time for letting go, a time for things to pass away. Often an attitude has lingered when we’ve really outgrown it. Sometimes it’s a friend or relative whose role in our life has finished and they move on. Pluto reminds us that everything changes, that every moment is precious, that we have no time to be bored. Together Neptune and Pluto’s energies bring us in touch with realities larger and more complex than our day-to-day routines.
We’re brought back to earth on Saturday when Mars aligns with Saturn. When Mars cooperates with Saturn he is precise, surgical, efficient, and highly focused. When Mars struggles against Saturn, he gets bruised, angry, sullen, and sometimes spends time in lockup. Since this aspect occurs in Leo, we need to keep close watch on our ego-desires. It’s a time when clarity and realism are rewarded by successful action, and a time when inflation leads to puncture.
On a larger scale, Jupiter and Saturn are moving into a square angle that will be exact next Thursday. This is about political power, leadership, and commitment. Issues raised now will surface again this fall when this square angle reforms. Saturn in Leo tests leaders and tries to limit personal liberty and choice at the same time. Jupiter in Scorpio can put reason and logic in service to emotions and desires. We don’t need an astrologer to tell us we’re in muddy political waters, but these two planets ill-placed in “fixed” signs don’t bring out the best of our values.
Finally, as the weekend approaches Aquarians and those whose horoscopes are influenced by Uranus may feel a change coming to the surface. Uranus tends to come from our blind side and shake up the status quo. It’s his job. Sometimes he manifests in a very straight-forward manner as extreme weather or earth changes. But he’s really signaling that a change has been building and it’s time to release the pent up force.
More politics and the Summer Solstice next week. Remember to be nice to yourself and take small steps whenever possible.
Daily Forecasts:
Sunday 11 June 2006
Big media, we need to feel free to move and feel rooted at the same time. Break out of mental habits and patterns. Write down how you feel and what you see. Gather information and share it. The Moon goes Void at 7:34pm/10:34pm so “veg” out after then.
Monday 12 June 2006
The Capricorn Moon inclines us to practical action, planning, and making useful connections. Our minds are fully illuminated by Mercury charged by Uranus. Listen to your feelings; they may have more valid insight than your perceptions.
Tuesday 13 June 2006
The Moon goes Void at 9:50am/12:50pm and remains Void all day. Keep up routines, go with the flow, and don’t invest in anything new that comes to you today.
Wednesday 14 June 2006
The Moon enters Aquarius at 6:32am/9:32am and things become slow and confusing as the day goes on. Use the resistance to build your muscles. The Moon activates to Mars-Saturn-Jupiter squares this evening. Try to keep power struggles to a minimum. At midnight, Venus is square to Neptune and that won’t help clarify matters. Mountains may be made out of molehills. People may get huffy over what may seem a small matter, but may be an indication of a larger issue. Dreams are big and newsy tonight.
Thursday 15 June 2006
We’re still lingering in dreamland all day with the Moon moving to connect with Neptune and then Venus this afternoon. Two or more worlds are open to some of us. This can be distracting so use care on the highways and take time to enjoy your imagination. Turn off talk radio and listen to music.
Friday 16 June 2006
The Moon has gone Void overnight and ends her Void period at 9:05am/12:05pm when she enters Pisces. The Sun is passing opposite to Pluto today and some of us will realize that a phase of life is ending and another beginning. People have strong feelings and preferences. It feels good to be with those who’ve been through the crucible with you.
Saturday 17 June 2006
Careful action can have excellent results, but rowdy fools will suffer with Mars aligning with Saturn. Political stories may crowd the media building into next week. Behind the scenes the struggle for power is intense.
Long Range Forecast:
June 22nd – Jupiter and Saturn represent the forces of culture and politics in our society. When they interact in square as they do on the day after the Summer Solstice, a shift in the political winds is often the outcome.
July 5th – July 29th – Mercury undergoes his retrograde period. Entering into contracts and major purchases are to be avoided. Communications tend to be confused and important messages should be repeated and verified. Often issues from the past re-surface. Those born when Mercury was retrograde will enjoy this 3 week period.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail. Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car. Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them. What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
