June 2006
Week of June 4th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
Venus is often described as the “planet of love” or her talent for grace and diplomacy is emphasized. Certainly Venus is directly involved with our sense of beauty and harmony. Venus is also connected with our relationships and from here the love planet designation stems. But it’s important to remember that some relationships are not all bunnies and flowers, some relationships are competitive, and some are downright adversarial…like combat. Mars is known as the god of war and his aggressive and destructive nature is well known. But Mars is always on the offense. Venus represents the defensive half of warfare, and in a history of warfare you will discover that more wars are won by defensive action. In sports terms, compare the Mars action of George Foreman with the “butterfly” grace of Muhammad Ali. This week Venus moves from Saturn through Jupiter to Uranus and we can expect to see all of her many and powerful energies at work.
On Sunday Venus, strongly rooted in Taurus, makes her annual square to Saturn. In Taurus, Venus cannot be pushed; she can be led, but not pushed. She reinforces our tendencies to resist change and push back at those who prod us. She holds and owns her territory and possessions, deriving strength from them. At a deeper level she is connecting with the powerful earth energy of the Great Mother, the power of mountains and continents, power that goes deep. When she is thus empowered and she makes the square to Saturn, boundaries are set. A clear line is drawn separating people into those within the fortress and those without…a line between those of value and those who’ve outgrown their usefulness. Both Venus and Saturn are now in “fixed” signs, so we are advised to work against the tendency to be rigid and dogmatic in this interpersonal pruning process.
Venus then moves to pass opposite to Jupiter on Tuesday. Those contacted by Venus and Jupiter may find themselves in situations where their need to assert control is challenged by social institutions. Think legal or ethical struggles or maybe conflicts between the media’s need to know and politician’s desire for secrecy. The urge to act uninhibitedly and exercise personal power will call forth a response from those in authority and an adjustment will be required. The issue is control and money as power at its root.
And if situations seem stuck, and they well might with all “fixed signs” involved, when Venus connects with Uranus in Pisces on Saturday a solution may be found. It won’t come from slow logical debate or negotiation, but it will come from left field. The realization that the ground rules can be changed or the circumstances themselves can be adjusted. It will be a sudden widening of view, the typical Uranian step back and out to see things in a new way.
Uranus will have already made his presence known before Saturday because the Sun makes the square angle to him on Monday. The Sun squares Uranus in Pisces twice each year and each time this event allows some of us to “change our minds.” The Sun is in Gemini, a mutable sign like Pisces, so this is a mental adjustment, a truly educational moment since the root meaning of education is to draw out. Some of us will suddenly hear that voice that’s been speaking its truth quietly all along. This truth will open new ways to connect and communicate with our world.
The Sun moves on from Uranus and makes harmony with Neptune on Saturday. This is the second contact from an “outer” planet to our Sun this week. The outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto all act to release us from habits and patterns that bind us to the status quo. Continuity is necessary and beneficial until it becomes crystallization and then it becomes a prison. The outer planets all break up this crystallization in various ways. So this week we get a double shot of freedom: first Uranus blows our minds a bit on Monday and then Neptune lights up our imagination on Saturday. Some restriction to our future will be removed. Those affected may see themselves playing a larger role in time to come; they may find the words to articulate this vision that’s just come clear in their minds. And when they speak this bright picture they will be aided by Mercury in Cancer still lingering in harmony with Jupiter. On Friday they are in exact connection and as the “writer-publisher” pair of planets, their harmony puts wings on our words. With Mercury and Jupiter in water signs, feelings can be shared as much as thoughts.
Daily Forecasts:
Sunday 4 June 2006
Be as flexible as possible today when Venus squares Saturn. The Virgo Moon will help as long as we don’t suggest how our friends and family can be flexibly improved. The Moon goes Void in square to Pluto at 5:29pm/8:29pm. Try NOT to have the last word.
Monday 5 June 2006
The Sun is square to Uranus overnight and we all want to “stick it to the man” just a little today. Listen to your inner voice and heed its truth. Let others have space. The Moon has entered Libra overnight…more Venus land.
Tuesday 6 June 2006
The Moon moves from trine (harmony) with the Sun to trine with Neptune through the day. All the flowing mental energy can be focused through Venus in Taurus into something lasting. Take notes, consider costs and benefits and resources.
Wednesday 7 June 2006
The Moon goes Void at 5:15am/8:15am and stays Void until she enters Scorpio at 1:41pm/4:41pm. She then moves to square Mars, so some of us may move rapidly from our minds to our gonads late today. Expect a shift in energy.
Thursday 8 June 2006
The Scorpio Moon is very busy today connecting with five planets. Expect to be busy too. Everyone’s needs will be felt to be critical, so don’t pooh-pooh them unless you’re prepared for significant feedback. A lot can be accomplished today when we’re highly motivated.
Friday 9 June 2006
The Moon has gone Void overnight and remains Void until 10:05pm/1:05am. Maybe some of us can start the weekend early. Many will be distracted, thinking ahead and into the future. Some will be distracted as they assimilate the changes of this week.
Saturday 10 June 2006
The Sun trine to Neptune and Venus connected to Uranus present a fine opportunity to re-vision our place in the world. We’ve cast some things aside and found something new to value, the same for people we’ve outgrown and newly met. With the Sagittarius Full Moon coming tomorrow, try to see yourself clearly as fully empowered member of your world.
Long Range Forecast:
June 22nd – Jupiter and Saturn represent the forces of culture and
politics in our society. When they
interact in square as they do on the day after the Summer Solstice, a shift in
the political winds is often the outcome.
July 5th – July 29th – Mercury undergoes his retrograde period. Entering into contracts and major purchases are to be avoided. Communications tend to be confused and important messages should be repeated and verified. Often issues from the past re-surface. Those born when Mercury was retrograde will enjoy this 3 week period.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010
- Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in
Capricorn. The end of
business-as-usual politics. The
nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government
will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square
angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology
and/or petroleum-based economies fail.
Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a
car. Plan to live where you’ll know your
neighbors…maybe even love them. What a
thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing
very thin in the city.
