May 2007
The Week beginning May 21st, 2007
Week as a Whole:
Twice a year the Earth’s motion around the Sun makes Neptune appear to stand still for several days as he reverses direction in our sky. This Thursday marks such a turning point. Around these changes of apparent motion, Neptune’s dreamy magical energy surges. People and ideas seem shinier and exert a glamorous pull on us. When eyes meet electric information seems to flash across, and the tricky part is that it sometimes does…and sometimes doesn’t. Our dreams have big budget casts and special effects. And there is meaning there to be understood. Neptune blurs the boundaries in life, between people, between ideas, and between realities. Neptune’s twice-annual stations make life more interesting and more confusing.
The other major player this week is Mercury. He is finishing a passage through his home sign of Gemini and he makes a focusing contact with Saturn on Monday. Our thinking is clear, we find useful information in our work, and people with knowledge have sound advice. The Sun adds to the Gemini forces as he enters the Twins sign early on Monday morning. If you’ve felt slowed down or overly grounded by the Sun in Taurus, you’ll likely welcome Gemini’s playful and experimental approach to life. Gemini brings a child-like wonder to life with her curiosity and willingness to try on something new to see if it fits. It’s OK during Gemini to feel two ways or have two opinions or two lovers or more than two. Gemini wants to connect “this” with “that” in the way our words connect us to ideas and concepts.
The very mental energy of Mercury and Gemini blends with the Neptune mysteries on Wednesday when Mercury makes an exact four sign angle with Neptune. Wordsmiths, mathematicians, musicians, politicians, other “icians” find themselves with an easy flow of ideas and language. Mercury – Neptune are found in persuasive speech, in rhetoric, in mass media, ads for soap, ads for Clinton, ads for the homeless...any form of communication that seeks to push our common humanity button. This is a time when words can perform one of their prime functions: bringing us closer together. But the zealot and the bigot can use the same energy; it follows no moral rules. It just paints a fascinating picture.
Although we will feel more or less be-fogged on Thursday, we have a “go-to” helper in Venus. Venus is making a four-sign contact with Uranus on Thursday. She does this twice a year. This pairing of planets can allow us to step back from personal situations and take a look from the outside. During this Neptune bubble, we may suddenly feel like we’ve awakened from a deep dream, like a diver surfacing from the depths. Together with Neptune this combination can create a feeling like we’re strangers to ourselves with odd ideas and images bubbling up. Interesting and unsettling to some. Most of this focuses in a very busy period Thursday evening from 6 to midnight (PDT).
This current tour of the outer planets concludes Sunday when Mercury passes opposite Pluto on his way out of Gemini into Cancer on Monday. Whereas Neptune can smooth over differences, bringing us together, Pluto rubs our nose in strong desire and hidden secrets. Mercury – Pluto puts the turd in the punchbowl of life. Together they can bring us unavoidable facts we might prefer remained hidden. But if you’re seeking answers, or solving puzzles, or want to catch a glimpse of someone’s motivations, this energy will help. Mercury is moving swiftly so it will come and go in a few hours on Sunday morning.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 21 May 2007
Not everything that happens is aimed at us personally, even though it may feel that way under a Leo Moon. But applause and praise are powerful gifts to be bestowed. We’re after the facts with Mercury and Saturn linked, and we’ll find some of them.
Tuesday 22 May 2007
Early morning enthusiasm may get stymied by afternoon posturing as the Moon re-energizes the Saturn – Neptune polarity that’s colored this spring. Leaders and opposing groups making gestures way too conscious of appearance with little substance. The evening is dreamy or nightmarish depending, but not dull.
Wednesday 23 May 2007
The Moon is Void from 6:08am/9:08am until she enters Virgo at 9:26am/12:26pm. We can use Virgo’s sharply focused discrimination amidst the rising Neptune foam. The First Quarter Moon pressures us to get a basic communications flow established, one that can be widely understood. Work for clarity and short-term realistic goals.
Thursday 24 May 2007
Try to keep your feet on the ground but give up on practicality this evening and take some time to enter another reality. Meditate, day-dream, night-dream, enjoy art or music. Surrender to the magical flow. Avoid incarceration.
Friday 25 May 2007
This afternoon our minds come into focus as the Moon makes a brief T-square with Mercury and Pluto. What was fuzzy is now extra sharp. Take a pause before speaking and think about how your words will be received. Our tongues are also sharp. The Moon goes Void at 5:43pm/8:43pm and then enters sweet Libra at 9:16pm/12:16am.
Saturday 26 May 2007
Libra is sweet but deep down really wants to win. The Libra Moon passes opposite Mars this afternoon making it a fine day for one-on-one competition. Find a way to challenge yourself and don’t remain in a box.
Sunday 27 May 2007
Today is the time to finish that correspondence you’ve put off. Make that phone call. Don’t ask questions unless you want truthful answers. Mercury is opposite Pluto and not mincing words. We’re past the bumpy part by evening.
Long Range Forecast:
June 15th – July 10th - Mercury is retrograde and we can expect the usual “blasts from the past”, miscommunications, computers turned Frankensteins, weird weather, and an excellent time to re-start projects involving contracts, words, or organization.
August 5th, 2007 – Saturn finally completes the contact with Pluto he almost made last December. As reported then, real political progress will finally take off. Much of the fall’s hopes and expectations can begin to be realized.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
Nov 3, 2008 – Saturn makes an opposition to Uranus that echoes the Saturn
– Uranus/Pluto opposition of March 6, 1966.
Ex-hippies take note. On March 4th,
John Lennon was quoted as saying "We're more popular than Jesus now." The revival of Sixties cultural themes begins
now and builds slowly toward the Uranus – Pluto squares beginning in 2012.
April 14, 2009 – March 21, 2010 -
Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in
Capricorn. The end of
business-as-usual politics. The
nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government
will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto,
a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology
and/or petroleum-based economies fail.
Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a
car. Plan to live where you’ll know your
neighbors…maybe even love them. What a
thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
