30 April 2007 – 6 May 2007

The Week beginning April 30th, 2007

Week as a Whole:

Jupiter and Saturn are the outermost visible planets and move in stately fashion through the zodiac.  Jupiter takes 12 years to circle the Sun and Saturn takes 28.5.  They energize Sagittarius and Capricorn respectively, signs at the “top” of the natural zodiac, and they symbolize the workings of human society on the town, state, and country level.  Jupiter is concerned with laws, ethics, publication of ideas, and our general expansion up and out into our public life.  Saturn puts limits on this expansion, enforces the laws, and strives to maintain political position and power.  This week they move into an exact four sign angle that occurs only twice in 12-14 years.  This is a chance to “tune-up” society and bring political power in line with the law and public opinion.  But Jupiter and Saturn are charged by the disruptive power of Uranus as they move into their exact connection.

Without Uranian input, we could expect Jupiter and Saturn to “play nice” in this connection they’re making.  Executive power (Saturn is in Leo) would gracefully compromise with the public consensus and law (Jupiter is in Sagittarius).  But Jupiter is square to Uranus and the law isn’t working smoothly.  In fact, secrets keeping popping out and hidden connections suddenly appear.  Uranus is also 5 signs from Saturn forcing adjustments and choices resulting from these same eruptions from behind the curtain.  Here we have a triple pattern involving 3 slow moving planets that we haven’t seen before in our lifetimes and will not see again.  This is history being made in our time, history that sets a name to an era like the “Nixon years” or Camelot.

This is not a struggle in the political arena alone.  Notice the recent issues about how we connect as a society, i.e. the media and its role in our lives.  We’re in a shift from the Walter Cronkite “daddy telling us the truth” media to a pick your own truth from a myriad of sources model.  We’ve come to realize there is no one source of truth.  We’ve become savvy about the images in our culture.  At the same time TV journalism, driven by the profit motive, has become tabloid journalism selling soap with fear fascination.  A few “big” sources like the New York Times or the Washington Post cling to some semblance of integrity.  But market forces, celebrity-status, and the internet are eroding their positions.  Remember “Don’t follow leaders, watch the parking meters.”  Pisces is the communications mode of Capricorn.  It focuses on appearances that can mask the deeper realities beneath.  It seeks to unite us with broadly held common images.  Uranus and Neptune are working together to redefine public communication by breaking up large monolithic groups into smaller internet connected communications.  Pluto moving to the last degrees of Sagittarius is pushing the “old media” into extinction.  We’re coming into the last old-style election cycle.  Pluto will have moved into Capricorn in 2008 and real political change will begin.  But it won’t be pretty.  This week is another speed bump on that very bumpy road we’re on.

While we watch our leaders struggle on the media, some of us are feeling this energy in our personal lives.  People born around the 7th to the 10th of any month are likely to find themselves whirling with career and, perhaps, legal matters.  The Sun in these folk’s horoscopes falls at or near the 18th degree and thus connects with Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus.  These people are experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime change process that will continue at this high level, as will the political ballet, through next week.

This week has several other highlights.

On Monday Mars makes a square to Jupiter and three hours later Venus links with Neptune.  These are our interpersonal planets.  We reach out with Mars and we react with Venus.  The Mars – Jupiter aspect can generate restlessness whose cause is difficult to discover.  We may overreact to very subtle cues and signs.  We’re being tweaked into a greater awareness of how people and events connect to us.  We’re being stretched.  Venus and Neptune also can expand our minds.  The right words seem to come easily and we find agreement in discussion with our friends and co-workers.  People are open to new ideas and less resistant to change.  But here again there is a non-intellectual feeling-level contact being made and it behooves us to feel pay attention to how our bodies react.  A knotted stomach is sufficient reason now to exit gracefully.

Early Wednesday morning Tuesday the Moon is Full on the 12 degree of Scorpio.  This is a sensual Full Moon with the earthy Taurus Sun illuminating the passionate Scorpio Moon.  This is time to hold and be held, a time to have and possess, a time for personal power and power over others.  Much that has been building for the past two weeks comes to a head as always on the Full Moon.  IN the chart notice the pattern described above: Jupiter (18 Sagittarius) at 2 o’clock, Saturn (18 Leo) at 6 o’clock, and Mars (19 Pisces) and Uranus (17 Pisces) at 10 o’clock.  The Full Moon aligns with the horizon in Washington D.C. and shines on our committed relationships and open enemies.  Mercury and the Sun rising together (at 9 o’clock) work to find the right words to solve the power struggle.  The chart suggests that language is the key to enable the give and take of the Full Moon balancing act.

After the Full Moon we drift through two days with almost no interactions, but on Saturday Mercury has moved to connect with Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter all still at the 18th degree.  The importance of communication and language becomes even more important now.  On Sunday Jupiter will be in exact connection with Saturn and Venus will be opposite Pluto.  This means that this weekend both Mercury and Venus – our inner planets, our inner life, our sense of interior landscape – are changing and expanding.  Expect to experience sudden changes of attitude both within you and around you.  People are not flip-flopping, they’re evolving and shucking off old points of view like ears of corn.  The Full Moon’s illumination will be assimilated over this weekend.

Daily Forecasts:

Monday 30 April 2007

Despite a generally twitchy feeling there’s good will and open minds to be shared and enjoyed.  The energy peaks late in the day and our minds are buzzing into the evening.  We’re all silver-tongued devils tonight.

Tuesday 1 May 2007

The Moon has entered Scorpio overnight but makes no contacts today.  But we feel the Full Moon building and gathering energy all day into the night.  The Moon rises Full and bright tonight.  We can feel the life energy flowing through us.  Listen to Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring.

Wednesday 2 May 2007

The Moon is Full at 3:09am/6:09am.  Nobody feels halfway about anything.  Passion runs high and deep.  Compromise is most useful at the Full Moon to create a balancing give and take.  This is very difficult under this fixed sign Scorpio Moon.

Thursday 3 May 2007

And now begins two days of limbo coasting.  Matters are on hold or automatic.  Change will come over the weekend.  The Moon is Void until 3:48pm/6:48pm when she enters Sagittarius.

Friday 4 May 2007

Not void but drifting.  Waiting for political and career shoes to drop.

Saturday 5 May 2007

A very busy and stimulating day.  Mercury squares Saturn and links with Uranus.  Significant new information becomes available.  Spin and bovine manure don’t work very well with today’s sharp Mercury.

Sunday 6 May 2007

The Moon has entered political Capricorn and there’s plenty of politics going around today.  Although the Moon makes no connections, Jupiter and Saturn are exactly in contact early and Venus is exactly opposite Pluto late.  It’s time to take out the trash.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

Nov 3, 2008 – Saturn makes an opposition to Uranus that echoes the Saturn – Uranus/Pluto opposition of March 6, 1966.  Ex-hippies take note.  On March 4th, John Lennon was quoted as saying "We're more popular than Jesus now."  The revival of Sixties cultural themes begins now and builds slowly toward the Uranus – Pluto squares beginning in 2012.

April 14, 2009 – March 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
