30 April 2006 – 6 May 2006

Week of April 30th, 2006

Week as a Whole:

When major changes are occurring the planets form complex patterns of connections that link several of them together. At a high level of abstraction this means that many areas of human life are coming together and interacting. On Thursday of this week, five of the ten planets occupy the number thirteen or fourteen degrees of their various signs. They are all forming angular relationships or “aspects” to each other. Before discussing the individual planets and their meanings, consider how remarkable it is that the “random” motion of the planets would form into square and triangular patterns around the Earth in a single day, more precisely in a two hour window. Check it out in this week's chart below.

The most powerful component of this week's pattern is formed by Jupiter moving to an exact 120 degree – or four sign – angle with Uranus this Thursday. Jupiter moves slowly and we have seen this combination of energies building for the past two or three weeks. Jupiter is the force that beckons from the mountaintop, the urge we all feel to see over our boundaries, to travel and experience new cultures and ideas. Jupiter symbolizes an expansive energy that takes us out of our “home” turf. Uranus is the planet of revolution and radical change, of protest, of the future's destructive power over the status quo. Both Jupiter (in Scorpio) and Uranus (in Pisces) are in water signs, and water signs express areas of commonality in human life. We are all mostly water and we all have the water signs (the third is Cancer where Mars is now) somewhere in our horoscopes. These watery connections are non-rational and emotional made by our bodies more than our minds. The recent immigrant marches are expressing a powerful unity shared by the marchers and also express their desire to belong to their new homeland. This breakdown of national borders is the future; it's one of the many aspects of the globalization process that's here at the beginning of the Aquarian Age.

Jupiter, typically, strives for an overview, a big picture, and sometimes can pass over important details and tends to avoid being committed and tied down. But Jupiter is now in Scorpio a sign noted for its “to the death” commitments. So protesters are not asking for a travel visa; they are seeking to commit and put down roots. And they force the issue, which has Pisces overtones, of how we treat all our citizens. What are the financial commitments/costs that are assumed by a people when they admit new members to their community?

Jupiter in combination with Uranus is also forcing us to confront the changed world we live in. Jobs and people are mobile. The U.S. has had the “melting pot” self-image, but that was when there was a frontier to exploit and a rapidly expanding economy. Both of those are gone. Now the melting pot is getting crowded and the sharing requires sacrifice.

On this Thursday's First Quarter Moon Jupiter in Scorpio is the planet that connects two major patterns. Note the triangle formed with Mars (at 2 o'clock), Uranus (6 o'clock) and Jupiter (10 o'clock). Note that Jupiter and Uranus are in the EXACT same degree position in their respective signs. This is the water triangle that symbolizes the powerful feeling of unity felt by the protesters, and those who oppose them. Note also that Jupiter is opposite the Sun and makes right angles with the Moon (1 o'clock) and less exactly with Neptune (7 o'clock). This cross pattern in “fixed” signs represents a long-term situation involving money and values that seems to have no solution. Every proposed solution immediately calls forth valid objections and problems. There is no easy painless way out of this.

Although an immediate answer will not be forthcoming now, the majority of us are working with good will to come to terms with this in our own minds. Mercury has just made a cleansing contact with Pluto, clearing away old thought forms and attitudes for many. We're ready now to take a fresh look at this with some depth. Venus having just squared Pluto is moving to make a another cleansing contact with Saturn this week. Again an opportunity to outgrow ourselves. Jupiter in Scorpio will again come into sharp focus this September on the Equinox when he squares both Neptune and Saturn in an echo of this week's cross. Expect this issue to re-surface and take form at that time.

Daily Forecasts:

Sunday 30 April 2006

We're in our heads, thinking over the heavy dreams of the night, and wondering about the future by the end of day. But we're thinking under the Gemini Moon.

Monday 1 May 2006

The Moon is Void from 4:13am/7:13am until she enters Cancer at 8:17am/11:17am. And we begin feeling. From now through next weekend, the water energies have great power, especially today and tomorrow while the Moon is in Cancer.

Tuesday 2 May 2006

This morning the Moon moves through the water triangle of Mars, Uranus, and Jupiter. Expect to feel surges of enthusiasm and camaraderie. Expect to feel passionately about whatever matters to you. Keep in mind that water can be polluted and to be alert for negative energy around you. Set aside time to take refuge in your cleansing spaces.

Wednesday 3 May 2006

The Moon goes Void at 11:35am/2:35pm square to Mercury who has connected with Pluto a few hours earlier. Interestingly, Venus changed signs into fiery Aries at almost the same moment as Mercury touched Pluto. We're shifting inside and that shift will become clearer when the Moon enters Leo at 5:18pm/8:18pm and quickly connects with Venus.

Thursday 4 May 2006

The Sun connects with Uranus and Jupiter who are connecting with each other on this extraordinary day. All this happens before the First Quarter Moon at 10:13pm/1:13am. The potential for mind expansion and minds being blown is high. Find time to get still and expand. Avoid those who would use this expansive energy to swell their egos under the Leo Moon. Humility has its own clever rewards.

Friday 5 May 2006

Mercury shifts into Taurus overnight and our words soften and slow down, probably a very good thing. The Moon goes Void this evening making that same harmonious contact to Pluto as did Mercury earlier this week. This suggests that many of us will find our balance today in a world that's appears very different from the world in which we began this week.

Saturday 6 May 2006

Although there's little activity today under the Virgo Moon, tomorrow finds Mars making the water triangle exact and finishing that surge. Tomorrow both Mercury and Venus will contact Saturn, so today we feel that coming towards us. We may be exhausted by this time, so plan a rest period with low stimulation and comfortable people.

Long Range Forecast:

May 4th - Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus form a high-energy water triangle as the Sun opposes Jupiter. Emotions are hair-triggered and can easily escalate out of control. And control or commitment may be an issue that provokes an emotional response.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

April 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail. Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car. Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them. What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
