26 March 2006 – 1 April 2006
Every year in the spring there is a New Moon in Aries. This event combines the renewal of spring with the fresh start that comes with a New Moon. So this week's Aries New Moon is doubly new, a beginner’s beginning. The Y-shaped Aries symbol is traditionally visualized as the head of a ram, but it can also be seen as a sprout breaking through the ground into the Sun. This idea of breaking through, creating a new opening and new life is very much what Aries is about. It is the primary fire source, the spark of new life and new light because fire symbolizes both. But this Aries New Moon is an eclipse, and comes two hours after Pluto stands still to begin four months of retrograde.
On Wednesday, the Moon aligns with the Sun in the 9th degree of Aries at 5:15am EST. As seen from Washington, D.C. Pluto is directly overhead and Mars, lord of Aries, is opposite at the base of the chart. If you've been following the planets, you may remember that when Mars and Pluto combine we have an excess of their creative/destructive energy that comes with endings and beginnings. The eclipse configuration adds another level of intensity. In this chart there are two other pairs of planets: Venus and Neptune on the left followed by Mercury and Uranus. Whenever two planets come together into alignment as a pair, it marks an ending and beginning of a cycle. Since Mercury and Venus describe our inner life and Uranus and Neptune describe the world-expanding forces, we can expect to realize we're looking at the world in a very new way. Our mental point of view has shifted – almost like a part of us woke up and is seeing life in a new light. Uranus and Neptune are linked, and have been for some time, by residing in each other's home signs. The rapid climate changes and the growing knowledge that events are slipping out of control, that the future somehow is magnetically drawing the present toward it, all are expressions of this combined energy.
The 9th degree of Aries bears the symbol of “a crystal gazer”. This is knowledge coming from intuition that sees the world differently, that sees the future. Keep in mind that the “crystal gazer” must tune in to her vision, that an effort is required to bring it into focus and interpret it. The mind needs to penetrate to the center of the crystal to arrive at understanding.
This all represents a unique opportunity for us to take a fresh look at our lives and where they are leading us. It is a time to focus beneath the surface of events and media noise, and grasp the essence of what's going on. We can use this vision to break with the past, use Pluto and Aries, and set out in a new direction. Or perhaps continue forward with with a new concept of our journey. There is no earth in this chart; there's an abundance of fire mixed with equal parts of air and water. So all this manifests as sparks in our minds, cogent ideas that can bring a freshness to life.
New Moons are inner events in contrast with Full Moons which are outer expressions. While the Mars-Pluto combination may bring more violence into our already violent world, we can look for a personal change in attitude that will have greater and greater impact over the next two weeks.
The intensity of the Aries Eclipse can easily be felt as impatience with the status quo and an impulse to action for is own sake. Sometimes, simple physical activities can release this tension in a healthy channel. Those of us who feel trapped in situations may find the key to change with this New Moon. Change comes when we can conceive of change. Many of us will lift our heads up this week and see new future ahead.
Daily Forecasts:
The Moon is Void from 7:18am/10:18am until 12:33pm/3:33pm when she enters Pisces. Mars and Venus are in harmony as we described last week. Communication flows easily and it's easy to give each other the space we need.
Follow your hunches this morning, don't keep up a mental grind. Look for signs and symbols that confirm your direction. Thoughts are moving between us magically. Go with the expansion and enthusiasm.
The Moon is Void from 7:20am/10:20am until 12:31pm/3:31pm when she enters Aries. Pluto is already charging up, emotions quickly become intense. Not everything is a matter of life or death, even if it seems that way. Make some private time for yourself as the New Moon eclipse approaches with the night.
The Solar Eclipse occurs at 2:15am/5:15am and Pluto stands still at 4:38am/7:38am. Keep in mind that the people around us are preoccupied just like we are. Brain storms are breaking out and some confusion is likely.
For the third time, the Moon goes Void in the morning, today at 7:41am/10:41am and enters Taurus at 1:01pm/4:01pm. Finally we get some earth energy from the solid Taurus Moon. Throughout the day the sparking and bubbling gradually settles down and we can consider concrete first steps in new directions.
What seems easy in the morning may seem a huge complicated SNAFU in the evening. The Moon is combining the inflation and glamor of the Jupiter – Neptune square of recent weeks. It may be hard to see beneath the surface, so hang on the waters will clear.
Void Moon again at 7:52am/10:52am until she enters Gemini at 3:49pm/6:49pm. Say goodbye to earth for a few days and keep track of those good ideas that are coming so fast.
Long Range Forecast:
Eclipse Season begins this week with a Lunar Eclipse on Tuesday in 24 Virgo. Eclipses in Virgo – Pisces bring a shift in our perceived reality. We need to make an adjustment to the world we see around us. The shift may come as a change in diet or work or health related areas. Something that's been there all along becomes visible and we cannot ignore its presence. Mars will activate this point early in April. A Solar Eclipse will follow on March 29th at 8 Aries that will call forth a new balance with our relations both friendly and unfriendly. Pluto stands still on that day so the “unfriendly” relations may need first attention.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
March 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – March 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail. Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car. Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them. What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
