12 March 2007 – 18 March 2007

The Week beginning March 12th, 2007

Week as a Whole:

This week has a slow start and as the closing lunar cycle approaches next Sunday’s Solar Eclipse, karma and consequences come rolling home.  The overall feeling is reactive rather than proactive.  Choices made last week and the week before now bear fruit – either sweet or sour.  The political undercurrents are swelling into a sea-change that will begin with the coming eclipse.  Progress has been made since the last New Moon, more is on the way.  Jupiter makes perfect his four sign link with Saturn that opens the possibility for political compromise and more open minds among our leaders.  This has been building for many days now and this is a historic opportunity that comes only twice in a decade.  But the most powerful energy this week comes from Pluto.  Our inner planets connect with him on Friday and the eclipse is almost exactly square him.  A loss of control and major transformation is possible.

The most immediate changes come to us through the “everyday planets”: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars.  These are planets whose energies we use all the time just being humans.  The Sun and Moon are the basic life forces, male and female.  Mercury and Venus symbolize our inner mental life, our feelings and inner dialogue as well as how we relate to those around us.  Mars is our aggression.

When these planets change signs or make contacts we experience a shift in our life that varies from the quite subtle to the quite obvious.  The variation can result from direct connections between our horoscope and the planets positions or from a conglomeration of changes and contacts occurring in a short time period.  And this is the case this week.  On Friday, in the two hours between 4:30pm/7:30pm and 6:30pm/9:30pm Mercury and Venus both link with Pluto and each other.  In fact Mercury is exactly midway between Venus and Pluto and Venus and Pluto are exactly four signs apart.  This is a chance – for some a chance and for others a compulsion – to end a mindset and step forward into a new way of reacting to the world.  There may be the feeling of one last sentimental moment or two, but then we move on.  The way we think about what’s happening to us and around us will shift.  Coming in fire and air (Aries, Sagittarius, and Aquarius) this feeling may be felt as irritation or restlessness or claustrophobia.

Twenty-four hours later, Venus moves into her strong and sensual sign of Taurus and less than twelve hours after that Mercury moves into Pisces.  So we have a burst of fire and air, quickly followed by new energies of earth and water.  With Venus in Taurus we will have the first steady and strong earth energy since Mars left Capricorn last month.  Our inner life is moving from pictures and words into feelings and sensations.  Expect to slow down and smell the roses.

Just as this inner shift completes, our inner focus deepens still further with the Solar Eclipse Sunday evening at 7:43pm/10:43pm.  Notice Saturn alone at the top of this chart.  The top of the chart is the “authority” position.  Notice he is all alone above the horizon.  This puts those in power in high focus and high visibility.  They will “act out” or react to much of the changes activated elsewhere in the chart.  Saturn is in degree 19 of Leo.  Jupiter (at 7 o’clock) is also in a 19 degree of his sign, Sagittarius.  This is the four sign angle mentioned above.  They will remain linked for several days.

The Sun and Moon are together in the number 28 degree of Pisces.  This degree bears the symbol of light breaking into several colors as it passes through a prism.  It suggests that within a unity there is multiplicity, or more simply put, things are more complicated than they may seem on the surface.  It suggests that we can find ourselves connected in myriad of ways to others each of whom is unique; that the universe can be found in a grain of sand or drop of rain.  As a New Moon, this understanding comes from an inner awareness.  The Pisces New Moon always offers us the opportunity to feel more connected to our world and fellow travelers, this one more powerfully than others.  This one bears the signature of the Saturn –Neptune opposition still in effect after two weeks.  We will find themes of reality and illusion, fact and fiction, packaging and contents.  We can see how we self-limit by low expectations or how we can paralyze ourselves with perfection obsession.  And we can let this magic spell go.

Pluto in this chart is located below Jupiter (also at 7 o’clock) and he is in the 28 degree of Sagittarius.  This is exactly square the 28 degree of Pisces (Sun and Moon).  Pluto’s power cannot be denied; he brings death and rebirth when the time has come.  The relationship of the Sun and Moon to Pluto indicate we’re breaking free of a powerful hold that’s been keeping us in bondage.  We’re escaping, like Persephone, from the underworld and bringing knowledge and therefore power back with us into the light.  This Eclipse may remove a power source from our world – big or small – or we may find the power within to confront that which seemed overwhelming in the past.  This will require courage and effort and the development of a more flexible (prismatic) view of our situation.

This is another of those rare moments when we can feel a sea-change in the quality of time; we’re turning a corner and the next two weeks of the lunar cycle will manifest these changes.

Daily Forecasts:

Monday 12 March 2007

Decisions are best made this morning before the Moon goes Void at 11:27am/2:27pm.  The Moon enters Capricorn at 1:35pm/4:35pm bringing much needed down-to-earth energy.

Tuesday 13 March 2007

More of the same earthy stuff.  Keep in mind that this comes with the Neptune – Saturn “believe it or don’t” quality that’s been a background for several days now.

Wednesday 14 March 2007

Don’t overreact to your boss’s pet demands this morning before the Moon goes Void at 1:21pm/4:21pm.  She stays Void until 7:52pm/10:52pm when she enters Aquarius.  Coast in neutral during the Void period.

Thursday 15 March 2007

Politics is heating up and an energetic wave swell will be felt.  This evening the Moon aligns with Mars and kicks off an extremely active period that doesn’t end until early next week.

Friday 16 March 2007

Changes are happening everywhere: in our personal lives and on TV in the “big world.”  Expect an “Aha!” moment or two or three over the next couple days.  Clarity and then release.  Expect to be stretched and stressed; so plan for breaks or at least deep breaths.

Saturday 17March 2007

The inner planets are shifting now and it’s time to let go and break free.

Sunday 18 March 2007

The Solar Eclipse occurs at 7:43pm/10:43pm this evening.  It’s pull drawing us inward in introspection may continue through tomorrow when the Sun makes the exact square to Pluto.  Then Spring begins on Tuesday.  Tra la tra la.  Take time and space tonight to calm your inner waters; we can see into the depths now.

Long Range Forecast:

March 3rd, March 18th – The spring eclipse season begins with a Lunar Eclipse on March 3rd to be followed by a Solar Eclipse on the 18th.  All energy levels are elevated during the eclipse periods.  Some of us will have great accomplishments and others will not be able to handle the juice.

April 2nd – A complex of three “Y” patterns forms indicating major decisions are required and a sharp turn taken by those whose personal horoscopes are touched this day.  More on this as the time approaches.  Thanks to astrologer Helga Steffee for pointing this out.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

Nov 3, 2008 – Saturn makes an opposition to Uranus that echoes the Saturn – Uranus/Pluto opposition of March 6, 1966.  Ex-hippies take note.  On March 4th 1966 John Lennon was quoted as saying "We're more popular than Jesus now."  The revival of Sixties cultural memes begins now and builds slowly toward the Uranus – Pluto squares beginning in 2012.

April 14, 2009 – March 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
