26 February 2007 – 4 March 2007

The Week beginning February 26th, 2007

Week as a Whole:

This week builds toward the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse that occurs next Saturday afternoon.  This eclipse illuminates a pair of historical contacts formed by Saturn and Neptune this week and Saturn and Jupiter two weeks hence.  This Wednesday Saturn finishes moving into an exact opposition to Neptune.  These two planets have been in a slow dance since last September when the pattern was first formed.  This is the second exact opposition and the third and final movement will take place in June.  Saturn in Leo pits the power of one against the power of many symbolized by Neptune in Aquarius.  This is the leader vs. the parliament or congress.  More importantly this is the reality principle of Saturn in stress with the imagination of Neptune.  Various “realities” are being challenged during the several months that Saturn and Neptune perform their pas de deux.  People everywhere are seeing things differently.  What was once impossible to conceive is now becoming almost ordinary.  And underneath it runs a common thread that Aquarius and Leo share in common: will power.  On a deep level we co-create our reality by our will; on a more shallow level we cling to our reality rather than admit a mistake.  These are two fixed signs, slow to change, and prone to self-importance.

This week we have three planets in Aquarius: Mars, who entered the Water Bearer’s sign on Sunday, Mercury who backs into the sign on Monday, and Neptune who’s been slowly moving through Aquarius for the past few years.  Expect to see the trademark sudden change that comes with Aquarian energy.  Aquarians are fixed, won’t change, can’t be convinced, everyone’s wrong but me, and then suddenly...”Oops my bad” and off in a new direction.  They resist change like tectonic plates resist the earth’s movement, and then they suddenly reach the critical point and release.

The source of this explosive and sometimes violent energy is Uranus who is currently moving about midway through his seven years in Pisces.  This Pisces overlay further obscures the Uranian buildup to climax.  Like the tsunami that sprang from an undersea earthquake, our world has been subject to powerful reality shifts welling up over the past few years.  Much of what’s been happening has been beneath various surfaces: official lies, a craven yellow press, a simplistic good vs. bad framework, and cultural stereotypes to name a few.  Astrologers also associate Pisces with petroleum and “mass destruction”.

This Saturday’s Lunar Eclipse aligns the Sun with Uranus (at the 3 o’clock position) at sunset in Washington, D.C. opposite the rising Full Moon (at 9 o’clock).  Saturn and Neptune remain in opposition as they will for many days – Saturn is at 10 o’clock and Neptune at 4 o’clock.  Uranus is exactly square to the high point of the chart that symbolizes those in authority and square to the base of the chart that symbolizes where we feel we belong.  Jupiter, at the 6 o’clock position, makes square angle to the Sun, Uranus, and the Moon forming a T-Square pattern we’ve seen before in times of high stress.  This combination can be summed up as mind-expansion – mind-expansion whether you’re ready or not.  The signs emphasized are “mutable” signs that symbolize the adjustments we make to get in tune with the world around us.  The eclipse will challenge us to make a significant adjustment to a situation or situations that are suddenly revealed to have changed.

Seemingly disconnected to the major group above, retrograde Mercury and Pluto are connected, and will connect again after Mercury resumes forward motion next week.  This pair brings secrets to light putting x-ray glasses on all our eyes.  Put another way, we will all be in touch with our inner little boy who points out the emperor’s nudity.  Flimsy fictions are hard to maintain these days.

Like all Lunar Eclipses this one is a Full Moon on steroids.  We meet fulfillment or disappointment at the Full Moon phase.  So much energy is available that small matters can escalate out of control unless carefully monitored.  Local psych wards will collect more than the usual number of naked saints off the streets.

The Pisces – Virgo axis connects the swirling maya of Pisces with the precise analysis of Virgo.  Anyone who’s performed magic knows the Virgo discipline and exact control required to create an illusion.  Anyone who’s helped to mount a play has the same knowledge.  As we do our daily dharma, this Full Moon can bring the understanding of a much larger world in which we participate.  We can learn to “accept the things we cannot change” and pray for the “courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”  This Full Moon can bring that wisdom into your life if it touches your horoscope.

Daily Forecasts:

Monday 26 February 2007

What was cloudy becomes clear as Mercury backs out of Pisces into Aquarius.  We’re still going in little circles from time to time from Mercury retro, but they’re becoming familiar circles if not grooves.

Tuesday 27 February 2007

Limbo day – the Moon is Void all day and there are no inter planetary contacts.  Keep on doing what’s already working and discount anything new that comes up.

Wednesday 28 February 2007

Secrets and Lies with Mercury exactly linked to Pluto and Saturn exactly opposite Neptune.  Keep your eye on the guy behind the screen.  Watch the screen fall down.  The Moon has entered Leo overnight and shines on our leaders, such as they are.

Thursday 1 March 2007

The Moon passes exactly over Saturn at sunset today (6:12pm/9:12pm).  This is visible in the U.S. and eastward.  Another bump in the reality vs. illusion highway.

Friday 2 March 2007

The Moon is briefly Void from 11:02am/2:02pm until she enters Virgo at 1:32pm/4:32pm.  Something becomes quite clear this morning.  What to do about it comes this afternoon.

Saturday 3 March 2007

The Eclipse is at 3:12pm/6:12pm.  Sadly, some of the Uranian energy will no doubt explode in the troubled countries of the Middle East.  Go slow, take small steps, consider what is real and meaningful to you and what is fluff.  The onion-like nature of reality is there to be seen.

Sunday 4 March 2007

The Sun continues to move into alignment with Uranus and so the volatility continues.  Avoid stagnant situations or social obligations with no heart left.  Especially today they will drain your soul.  Better to do something totally out of character.  Walk on the wild side.

Long Range Forecast:

March 3rd, March 18th – The spring eclipse season begins with a Lunar Eclipse on March 3rd to be followed by a Solar Eclipse on the 18th.  All energy levels are elevated during the eclipse periods.  Some of us will have great accomplishments and others will not be able to handle the juice.

April 2nd – A complex of three “Y” patterns forms indicating major decisions are required and a sharp turn taken by those whose personal horoscopes are touched this day.  More on this as the time approaches.  Thanks to astrologer Helga Steffee for pointing this out.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

April 14, 2009 – March 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
