The Week beginning February 19th, 2007
Week as a Whole:
The day after Mercury began his retrograde motion I heard this story on NPR:
“A year and a half ago, Estelle Guzik was indexing some 100,000 Holocaust documents in the archives of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York when she stumbled across something remarkable. Amongst the files were the undiscovered letters of Otto Frank, the father of famed diarist and Holocaust victim, Anne Frank.
The documents had been moved there more than 30 years before from the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. While indexing, she noticed one of the birth dates was missing from a file.
"Estelle Guzik reopened the file to locate the birth date and then immediately came upon the names of Anne and Margot Frank," says Dr. Carl Reins, Executive Director of YIVO.
Due to a clerical error, Guzik rediscovered the letters that illuminate Frank's failure to get his family out of Nazi-occupied Holland.”
I can’t imagine a better example of Mercury’s retrograde effects: indexing documents, missing info, reopened files, the past revisited, and clerical errors.
Mercury continues his retrograde motion this week passing between the Earth and the Sun on Thursday. This is termed being “lost in the light” of the Sun pointing to the inclination to choose the information what we want to know over the complete information available. This is perhaps the most intense phase of Mercury’s retrograde period. We lack objectivity and distance during this time and should think twice, even thrice before making decisions or judgments.
The week begins with Venus – and thus our feelings and what we personally value – in flux. She makes a square angle with Pluto on Monday, an annual social house cleaning time. What we want and desire from other people cannot be ignored. With Venus is Pisces some of us may awaken to a sudden distaste, even revulsion, that comes not from the mind but from the body and feelings. Like someone who has eaten too much and too long of a flavor of ice cream so that they can’t swallow another bite. But this must be kept in perspective; Venus does this every year and if this doesn’t touch your horoscope directly, you may just wrinkle your nose and walk on.
Venus then moves quickly out of Pisces and enters Aries on Wednesday. Here too, Venus will not suffer unpleasantness or fools. In Aries she is excitable, adventurous, brave, irritable, restless, and eager for a challenge. She is not the easy-going Venus of Taurus or the gracious and clever Venus of Libra. Again, she’s here every year, and a light sparks in all our hearts and we can begin our loves anew as Venus starts a new circle through the Zodiac.
After Thursday’s temporary flash blindness, the Moon forms the First Quarter on Friday. With the Sun now in Pisces and the Moon in Gemini, we’ve shifted away from the “fixed” energy of Aquarius New Moon and moved into the flexibility and responsiveness of these two “mutable” signs. Our protective walls and ego structures have softened and even developed permeability. We feel the need to connect and get in tune with the world around us rather than working our will on it.
But for those of us who miss the high energy and electric knowledge of Aquarius, all is not lost. On Sunday Mars enters Aquarius to be followed on Monday by Mercury who backs into Aquarius. Mars has been organized and focused, if not disciplined, in Capricorn these past few weeks. In Aquarius, he’s considerably wilder and more violence prone. High tech equipment can bite during this time, but it can also be kick-started and innovative. Groups can more easily slip into a mob, or they can be inspired to pursue a high ideal. The natural burst out energy of Mars becomes more unpredictable at this time.
Next Monday’s Mercury retrograde into Aquarius puts a Magic Eight Ball in our heads. Ask a question and wait a moment, up will swim an answer from who knows where. Funny thing is the answer will often be right. Those lost or forgotten items may suddenly re-appear in consciousness.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 19 February 2007
The Pisces Moon is Void from 8:43am/11:43am until she enters Aries at 11:06m/2:06pm. We’re all quietly growling today day from the Venus Pluto square angle that’s exact this evening. Mutter- mutter- mutter.
Tuesday 20 February 2007
Feeling much better now with the Moon in harmony with Jupiter, Neptune, and Saturn later today. The future looks brighter and people in power are open to new ideas.
Wednesday 21 February 2007
The Moon is Void again this morning form 9:41am/12:41pm until 12:03pm/3:03pm when she enters Taurus. This is a busy day. We’re better off following hunches and feelings than our best laid plans with a Taurus Moon and Pisces Sun. Our bodies are more intelligent than our minds today.
Thursday 22 February 2007
Dazed and confused a bit today with Mercury blinded by the light. This evening try not to dig your heels in too far if other people don’t see your POV. The Taurus Moon moves from square to Neptune to square to Saturn in an hour.
Friday 23 February 2007
We have a burst of energy before the Moon goes Void at 11:47am/2:47pm contacting Mars. When she enters Gemini at 2:42pm/5:42pm we begin to search for a place that feels good. The First Quarter Moon gently pushes us to find a comfy neighborhood. Asking lots of questions and testing the emotional waters are the preferred methods. Trust the feelings more than the words.
Saturday 24 February 2007
Mind expansion day with the Gemini Moon squaring Uranus this afternoon and opposite Jupiter this evening. Do not get boxed in somewhere.
Sunday 25 February 2007
Thoughts and ideas rumble up from deep within us and there comes a shift around 5:30pm/8:30pm when the Moon goes Void opposite Pluto and Mars enters Aquarius. After 7:48pm/10:48pm find someone to curl up with now that the Moon is in Cancer.
March 3rd, March 18th – The
spring eclipse season begins with a Lunar Eclipse on March 3rd to be followed
by a Solar Eclipse on the 18th. All
energy levels are elevated during the eclipse periods. Some of us will have great accomplishments
and others will not be able to handle the juice.
April 2nd – A
complex of three “Y” patterns forms indicating major decisions are required and
a sharp turn taken by those whose personal horoscopes are touched this day. More on this as the time approaches. Thanks to astrologer Helga Steffee for pointing this out.
April 14, 2009 – February 21,
2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to
Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their
twilight times. The transition to
organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate
feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto,
a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology
and/or petroleum-based economies fail.
Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a
car. Plan to live where you’ll know your
neighbors…maybe even love them. What a
thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
