22 January 2006 – 28 January 2006
As discussed last week, the main theme of the times is represented by Jupiter moving into an exact right angle with Neptune. Both of these planets symbolize how we expand out into our world: Jupiter intellectually and Neptune emotionally. When in a tense relationship, like this square, there can be too much expansion, or inappropriate expansion, and discussions about the issue of security vs. privacy. Regardless of our politics, clearly we're all focusing on an opening of our private lives out into our public lives. We have boundary issues. Sometimes, quite wonderfully, events come along to illustrate these more subtle energies. So speaking of expansion and limits, last week we sent a rocket off to Pluto, our outermost planet and, also last week, a space capsule returned from gathering comet dust at the outer regions of the solar system. We can expect more news from “the outer regions” for another astrological reason: Pluto is moving to align with the center of our galaxy at 26 degrees of Sagittarius. His slow motion will take him back and forth across this point several times over the next two years. All of you SETI hopefuls take note: E.T. may be phoning in over the next couple years.
This Friday, when Jupiter makes the exact square to Neptune, the day itself would not normally be a big deal. These two move so slowly that they have been in a square angle for many days, and this Friday represents a broad peak of a wide bell curve rather than a sharp peak or cusp. But the chart for this moment reveals several other planets involved or tightly connected at this time. It's curious and noteworthy, that this stately coming into focus of Jupiter and Neptune coincides with the swiftly moving Moon (relatively swiftly) exactly aligning with Venus. AND all four of them are in the number 16 degree of their signs and thus connected. With the Moon and Venus together in political Capricorn, a continuation of the exposure of secrets and private information is likely. And as individuals, we have an opportunity to plan and organize our own growth and movement out into our world.
Note also in this chart that the Sun and Saturn are exactly opposite each other. This connection was “exact” less than 3 hours before the Jupiter and Neptune square. The Moon – Venus alignment is “exact” half an hour after Jupiter – Neptune. There's more. In the 13 hours from 5:03am EST until 6:06pm EST, the following astrological events take place. Mercury passes opposite Saturn, Venus is exactly two signs from Jupiter, the Sun passes opposite Saturn, Jupiter squares Neptune, and finally the Moon aligns with Venus still two signs from Jupiter. That's what I would call action-packed. Much of the above may be technical babble to the non-astrologer, but the takeaway is that there is a concentration of events coming this Friday...an unusual turning point or corner in time at which decisions are made or revealed.
The Sun's opposition to Saturn is clearly seen in the current debate about executive power. Saturn is passing through Leo, the sign of kings, and as the outermost visible planet, wearing his magnificent ring, Saturn always shows us limits and discipline as he teaches. The Sun, whose home sign is Leo, is the executive decision-making planet. Saturn will spend roughly two and a half years in Leo teaching us all lessons about how much we control and how we are responsible for our decisions. Saturn was last in Leo the period just after Watergate when discussions about executive power were occupying the public mind.
This Friday's cosmic crunch is followed by a New Moon next Sunday. This will give us all time to consider and digest consequences which is another way to understand this week's flow of events. This week will build like a wave that reaches its crest on Friday, washes over us, and the leaves our world slightly changed as it recedes.
Notice for Los Angeles area readers:
Ongoing Classes:
Beginning January 21st:
1:00pm– Intermediate Class in Predictions. Using the charts of well-known people, the effects of progressions, transits, and solar returns will be taught and explored. The class is open to people who know the basics of astrology.
3:00pm – Beginner’s Class. All are welcome. There are no prerequisites except an open mind and curiosity. This class will cover the signs, planets, and houses and show how to interpret these symbols and analyze birth chart patterns. Call the New Age Bible and Philosophy Center, 1139 Lincoln Boulevard, 310-395-4346 or me, 818-316-0702, for details.
Long Range Forecast:
December 24th – Venus turns retrograde until February 3rd. Second impressions may be the most reliable during this time. This is not a good time to form partnerships unless you are “re-forming” them. The time is suited to review and re-organize your finances and wardrobe.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
January 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – March 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail. Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car. Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them. What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
Daily Forecasts
The Scorpio Moon keeps us focused and involved today. Mercury leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius around midday. Expect a mental shift from past to future. Mars and Venus are in harmony so social grace comes easily. Our charm machine is working.
More social moving and grooving as the Scorpio Moon connects with Mars and Venus still in warm embrace. We have no time for trivia and dilettantes now. All this up until the Moon goes Void at 1:53pm/4:53pm. After that, relax.
The Moon remains Void until 10:38am/1:38pm when she enters Sagittarius. The emotional intensity has subsided and a batch of fresh ideas bubble up late in the day as the Moon connects with the Aquarius Sun and Mercury.
We're feeling the gathering surge toward Friday by now. It may be hard to stay focused in the present, but that's always the best approach...since the present is all that really exists. Yesterday and today, are well-suited for making a clear picture of your future and thus beckoning it into existence.
The Moon is Void from 7:24am/10:24am until she enters Capricorn at 2:31pm/5:31pm. This is the calm before the storm. With the Sun and Mercury lined up, we can confuse what we want with what is. Aquarius loves to share ideas, sometimes more vigorously than others. Sometimes like Big Brother. Consider the possibility that you could be wrong, however slight.
Political and world events may charge this day. We may look back and see how we took a new path beginning on this day, especially if our personal horoscope is connected with today's planets. Take time to get quiet and regain your perspective if you feel swept along like a leaf in a stream.
The Moon went Void at midnight last night and remains Void until 3:09pm/6:09pm today. We'll need this time to reflect and integrate new aspects of our reality. This is an aftermath and a time for introspection as we move toward the New Moon tomorrow morning.
