8 January 2006 – 14 January 2006

The Week beginning January 8th, 2006

Week as a Whole:

In early December Saturn ALMOST connected with Pluto and since then Venus, Mercury, and the Sun have bridged the slowly expanding gap between Saturn and Pluto.  This week Mars will be the connector.  He links with Saturn Monday and with Pluto over Friday night into Saturday.  Saturn and Pluto are major change agents in astrology and their near combination has held out the prospect for major change in the public sphere and symbolized opportunities for us to change and evolve as individuals.  When Mars gets involved with Pluto the changes are often dramatic and violent.

But the week begins with a very useful Mars – Saturn link.  This harmonious connection implies grace in motion like the Olympic ice skater’s graceful and precise turning.  It suggests the energy to re-organize and re-structure.  It guides the surgeon’s hand and focuses the architect’s eye.  Mars works best when disciplined which is why the Roman Army was so successful confronting the barbarian hordes…until the army was made up of barbarian hordes.  With Saturn in Leo these two can channel our creative forces into useful and productive works.  We use our time better and don’t waste energy beating our heads against unnecessary walls.

Mars moves on this week from Saturn to align with Pluto.  And the Mars – Pluto energy is often too much in combination; too much so that the destructive – creative force they create can produce dangerous results.  Too much Mars is like a fire out of control.  Too much Pluto is like Al Capone made President.  Mars can unleash Pluto’s dark-side negative and angry emotions.  Our culture is “civilized” in such a way that there is little outlet for pure Mars and Pluto energy.  We no longer fight with sword and spear seeing our adversary eye to eye.  War and battle are remote and impersonal.  Young males find this energy flowing through them more than any other group of people.  Where in our culture can they put themselves at risk, physical risk, and prove their courage and manhood?  This pent up energy leads to gang violence and random acts of destruction.

Mars will act early as he always does, and since this explosive potential is working by mid-week we all need to take extra care to control our reactions.  Little items can quickly escalate into major exchanges that will later be regretted.  But sometimes words are said that can’t be unsaid.  Pluto can poison the atmosphere with his desire to “Hate, kill - get even” as I once saw tattooed on a fellow marine’s arm.

We have a better chance of using Mars – Pluto to expand our minds now that Jupiter, who is sending energy to these Sagittarian planets, is back at home in Sagittarius.  This is a fine opportunity to go healthy with Mars – Pluto and remake our vision of how we fit into the world at large.  We can reshape our social landscape with this and we can find a new mountain to climb.  The energy receives an additional influence from Venus connecting with Jupiter on Friday from Aquarius.  Some of us may find ourselves alternating between a genial hospitality and the urge to kill.  Be on the watch for sudden mood changes.

All this week and continuing for another two weeks, while we have several Capricorn planets, we enjoy sustained earth energy.  And this may help to decrease the volatility this week.  We’re more “grounded” and more likely to consider the costs and consequences of our actions before charging off. With Saturn, Lord of Capricorn, in retrograde motion many of us may find ourselves re-organizing and re-positioning our social/career positions.  There’s a strong look backward flow as we try to “fix” the past as we move forward.

Also, the Leo Saturn and Capricorn Sun send energy back and forth since they occupy each other’s home signs.  Leo and Capricorn share a sense of being visible.  The Leo loves it and the Capricorn only wants recognition when she’s ready and in the form she wants.  So if you’re feeling that you’re constantly being judged, that there are people holding signs with numbers up in your life, you may be over sensitive to this Leo – Capricorn mix.  Maybe, just maybe, we’re not so important that we’re being held to “Olympic” standards.

Daily Forecasts:

Monday 8 January 2006

Work - work - work all day under the Virgo Moon with Mars focused by Saturn.  Much can be accomplished and we are all in touch with our inner Energizer bunnies.

Tuesday 9 January 2006

The Moon goes Void at 4:50pm7:50am and enters Libra at 10:15am/1:15pm.  After a slow start, smooth day with an easy exchange of ideas.

Wednesday 10 January 2006

The mind-expanding facets of the approaching Mars – Pluto are best contacted today with the Moon connecting with Jupiter and the Neptune later this evening.  Think big, think new, but more than anything imagine.

Thursday 11 January 2006

Before the Moon goes Void at 5:55pm/8:55pm we will feel the more visceral components of Mars – Pluto coming on.  The Moon remains Void until 11:08pm/2:08am when she enters Scorpio and we’re into the peak of the “fire-season”.

Friday 12 January 2006

Keep as physically active as possible.  Try not to snap and bite.  No hand-gestures on the freeway.  Begin that major cleanout project.  The level of violence on the media may be high…watching is not compulsory.  Adopt a low-profile/small ego posture working toward the humble ninja ideal.

Saturday 13 January 2006

There may be a few smoking holes in the ground today….one hopes for very few.  The Scorpio Moon will sustain emotions at a high level.  Strong colors – no pastels.  If you’re processing change and growth, you’re using the time at its best.

Sunday 14 January 2006

At 7:49am/10:49am to Moon goes Void briefly until 10:11am/1:11pm when she enters Sagittarius.  Sleep in.  Your body will need the extra rest after the past few days.  Time to heal and later step back and take a wide view of what’s been happening this past week.  There’s a New Moon coming next week, a cycle ends and a new one begins.

Long Range Forecast:

February 13th Mercury begins three weeks of retrograde motion that ends on March 7th.  Signing important documents should be postponed.  Plan to best use this time to re-organize all things mental and communicative.  Expect to lose and find something.

Long-Long Range Forecast:

April 14, 2009 – January 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.  The end of business-as-usual politics.  The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times.  The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.

June 24, 2012 – April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s.  Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail.  Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car.  Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them.  What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
