8 January 2006 – 14 January 2006
The long-term pressures from Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune, all in tense angles with each other and all in fixed signs, come to a head as this week ends with the Full Moon. Many of us have felt highly stressed, pulled in several directions, conflicted about choices and commitments, and seemingly stymied. The past few months have been like an extended stay on the machines at the cosmic health club. We've been building muscles and will power; we've come to the point in the workout at which our coach calls for one more repetition despite the pain and discomfort.
Much of the struggle these past months has been about defining what we value and where we exercise our choice and power. With Mars in Taurus, this is the starting place for action. Granted Mars moves slowly, and sometimes stubbornly, in Taurus, but when he moves, he moves with power and conviction. With Mars opposite Jupiter in Scorpio, our choices provoke an immediate and amplified – Jupiter style - reaction. Our power doesn't exist or act in isolation. The opposition requires us to cooperate and consider those same choices but as made by others. The “right” choice brings powerful support to our purpose; the “wrong” choice calls up intense conflict. Money and earning power are sub-themes of Taurus/Scorpio since they are the most common forms of power.
Since Neptune in Aquarius forms a right angle to this Mars and Jupiter line, this effort to find right action for our resources must lead somewhere. In the back of all our minds, we are asking what will the future be and will I/we be prepared for it. We can feel the pressure of change on the status quo and we know intuitively that this change is profound and unpredictable. We also know this pressure comes from the global world into our personal lives.
Every Full Moon brings current matters to a turning point; it puts a spotlight on whatever is happening and forces us to put up or shut up. This Full Moon (http://www.celestialweather.com/images/010806.pdf) that comes just after midnight Friday (PST) falls in Cancer opposite the Capricorn Sun who happens to be aligned with Venus. The Full Moon runs from the 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock positions. The Cancer Full Moon, an annual event, always asks us to think about where we belong, where we feel safe, where we stand in our community. Since the Sun is aligned with a backward moving Venus, and together with Venus and Mercury, receives energy from a backward moving Saturn, there is a summing up of the past in the light of the Moon. We are now able to re-make some choices. We can look back over the hard efforts of the past few months and re-position ourselves.
Note that Mercury, in Capricorn, is in a healthy angle with Mars suggesting that we can analyze and communicate our efforts. In fact, all three (Sun, Venus, and Mercury) connect well with Mars and this too indicates that we're likely to make healthy decisions that will give form and continuity to our goals.
Twenty-four hours after this Full Moon, Mars passes exactly opposite Jupiter. Three days later, next week, Mars makes the exact square to Neptune. When patterns coincide like this, we are at a turning point in time. We've been watching the recent sea change in U.S. politics that involves money and power. All kinds of hidden actions have been revealed. The cockroaches are scurrying on K Street in Washington.
Saturn in Leo teaches us all lessons about the limits of ego. Both George W. Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger were born when Leo was rising. Both have suffered personal defeats after Saturn entered Leo last summer. But they have had quite different reactions to this lesson. Schwarzenegger appears to have pulled his horns in and now seeks cooperation and admits mistakes. He may regain popular favor and become even more popular for exhibiting his humanity. Apparently there hasn't been sufficient pain yet for President Bush to learn the same lesson.
This same Saturn in Leo applies to all of us through this Full Moon. Leo is where we make choices, personal choices. Saturn is telling us that choice has consequences and comes with responsibility. We are held accountable for our choices, and there is no escaping this. Not choosing is a choice. But there is another factor at work with this Saturn energy: Uranus. Both Saturn and Uranus (and the Moon's Nodes for the astrologer readers) are at the 8 degree of their signs. Saturn at 8 Leo and Uranus at 8 Pisces. This means they are interacting with each other. But the five sign angle separating them is uncomfortable and acts to push us out of old self-centered thought habits. Furthermore, Uranus is shocking and unpredictable by nature AND he's operating from our collective unconscious in Pisces. All this technical talk means that our idea of right action (Saturn in Leo) receives sudden jolts of insight that force us to re-think. We'll be startled to realize that hidden matters don't always remain hidden, that the effects of a choice extend far beyond our original concept.
So expect your feelings and thinking to come to some conclusions, long term decisions, under the Full Moon late this week. But also don't be shocked if you find yourself suddenly shifting in a new direction, one that will satisfy a part of yourself that's been long buried and now needs to be expressed. Remember we're coming to a point of compression to be followed by release. The waiting is almost over and a new stage in our journey is set to begin.

Long Range Forecast:
December 24th – Venus turns retrograde until February 3rd. Second impressions may be the most reliable during this time. This is not a good time to form partnerships unless you are “re-forming” them. The time is suited to review and re-organize your finances and wardrobe.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
January 14, 2009 – August 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth…the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 – March 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960’s. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail. Plan to live where there is food and water and you don’t need a car. Plan to live where you’ll know your neighbors…maybe even love them. What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city.
Daily Forecasts
A busy thought-provoking day. The Moon moves through the stress pattern of Mars-Jupiter-Neptune this afternoon. We feel the resistance but also begin to see its end.
More confirming feelings that we're about to finally get moving today before the Moon goes Void at 10:56am/1:56pm. Other people cooperate and some in new ways.
The Moon, now in Gemini, finds us busier; some of us are nervous, but we steady by midday with contact to Saturn.
Our thinking reaches conclusions; what we really want is clear by 5:46pm/8:46pm when the Moon goes Void as she passes opposite to Pluto.
There's a sense of slowly building acceleration through today as the Cancer Moon moves toward Full tomorrow night. She connects with Uranus this evening and may bring a surprise message.
Very high energy combines with enthusiasm and a balancing practicality. Try to find a new way to relate to those you work and live with. Look for unused resources in the people you know. The media may bring news of fresh disaster and power shifts as the T-square comes into sharp focus. High overhead tonight: the Full Moon.
The Moon goes Void at the Full at 1:48am/4:48am. She remains Void until 1:31pm when she enters Leo and the high energy continues into next Sunday evening.
