Perhaps the most basic premise of astrology is that time has a changing quality described by the positions and interrelationships of the planets. Even though each of us interacts with our time differently because of our unique birth charts, we all share certain common conditions and effects. We live our lives in this Celestial Weather. After studying, teaching and counselling for over 40 years, I use my understanding of astrology to guide my plans and activities. Professional astrologers consider "sun sign" astrology to be a nearly useless simplification. Human life is much more complicated. Celestial Weather reporting analyzes time's quality from a professional astrolgoer's POV in terms intended to be understood and useful to the average reader. The information presented here is intended to be a useful guide to planning, scheduling and living. |

<<< Current Bulletin >>> Celestial Weather Bulletin For the Week of January 22, 2012
Welcome to all Celestial Weather readers. It’s been five years on hiatus and I’m glad to be back reporting again. As before, I welcome your comments and suggestions. This week begins with a New Moon in Aquarius in the midst of a dynamic period of high energy. Aquarius is a time to look forward into the future and plan ahead. It’s a time to envision how you want the coming year to work for you. Aquarius adds a detached POV so we can look at our lives and friends clearly and with less emotion. Sometimes Aquarians are faulted for avoiding emotion; sometimes that’s correct. New Moons sow the seeds that emerge into the light at the Full Moon. It’s an introspective time, a time of beginnings, and we need to take a peaceful pause to understand the complex energies swirling around us and to clarify our future into a clear mental picture. This New Moon is involved in a series of larger patterns and this larger involvement suggests the buzz and complexity that we’re feeling. The New Moon finds both Sun and Moon together in a pattern of tension that astrologers call a “T-Square”. This pattern is formed by the New Moon at right angles to Jupiter and Saturn who are opposite each other. Jupiter and Saturn together symbolize local politics and society, local to town, state and country – our public, but not global, life. Jupiter and Saturn have been opposite each other since late December and are only now finally separating. Their energies are naturally in conflict with Jupiter urging expansion and Saturn restricting and crystallizing. But that is modified by Saturn’s position in the last degree of Libra exactly 4 signs from Neptune in the last degree of Aquarius. This is a flowing creative connection that nurtures visions into reality. It links the fairness of Libra with the idealism of Aquarius. And so Saturn is acting as a creative channel while Jupiter in Taurus is self-conflicted and can manifest as greed and dug in resistance to change. Saturn and Neptune win this fight but emerge with Jupiter as a “drag”. On Monday Mars begins his retrograde period and for some days before and a few after his energy is surging. This is great if you can easily channel physical energy. If not, irritability and short tempers can be a problem. Take a deep breath before verbally firing from the hip. After Tuesday, Mars, who sparks all beginnings, is better suited to restarting than new starts. From now until April 13th, the time is well suited for pulling an old project that’s been lying dormant off the shelf and restarting it...like this website. Mars is in Virgo, an excellent location that focuses his fire and makes it useful. He will remain in Virgo throughout his retro period. Tuesday night the Moon aligns with Neptune and connects with Saturn both in 29th degrees. Dream big and dream often then write them down. They may prove useful later. Neptune’s dreaminess continues through Thursday with the Moon passing through Pisces and continuing the “last degree” energy. You may feel a push to completion as an undercurrent. Use it wisely. The Moon is Void (in neutral) from 8:52pm/11:52pm (PST/EST) Thursday evening until 10:28am/1:28pm Friday. This is time to coast and not make decisions. Meanwhile Mercury has entered Aquarius and is connecting with the same T-Square of the New Moon’s as he crosses over the New Moon point. This may be the time to write those dreams down in detail. We can find words for much that was felt or intuited on the New Moon. We also may feel Saturn’s resistance as we express ourselves. He wants clarity and order. Friday the Moon enters Aries and aligns with Uranus around midday. With Mars still tingling, we can expect a “pop” at this time, a surprise that bears the unexpected signature of Uranus. Possibly technical snarl ups. Communication operates at an elevated level through the weekend with Mercury squaring Saturn, then connecting with Uranus, and lastly squaring Jupiter. A political surprise announcement is also possible. Long Term In the next few weeks I’ll be offering monthly reports for a small fee that detail the coming 12 months and long term trends. Tables and charts will also be included. I’ll have an example up shortly on the website. In the meantime, please check out 2012 AN Astrologer's POV. We have entered a historically dynamic and challenging period. In the Sky The bright object in the Southwest evening sky is Venus, Jupiter is overhead. Mars and Saturn rise late at night and are overhead just before sunrise. |
